A new old sophont :)

This species has been around in my setting for a while, just without any kind of solid anatomy or lore. I've workshopped it a bit for a proper introduction, though to be honest the design is a bit too complicated for one of the big graphics like I did for the rausliers, so this is all ya get for now...

Introducing Tiatmi! He’s the current leader of a snail, but wealthy clan that he rules with his wives. I’m hoping to do some character amas with him to flush out wolfmen culture and expressions. So ask him what ever questions you have.

Some expressions for my marsuraptor sophonts.

Pseudoear position is usually the best default indicator of mood and the one marsuraptors look to most when trying to gauge how another is feeling. Although it is also the easiest for marsuraptors to control and fib.

Eye pinning and head movement movement on the other hand is mostly involuntary but a lot more subtle. Teeth baring for both fear and anger is usually a lot more rare. Generally in marsurptor society showing your teeth or even opening your mouth outside of eating is considered VERY rude, and with it being something that is fairly easy to repress, it is usually reserved for extreme/uncontrollable bouts of emotion.

Marsuraptors also tend to emote very silently, with them lacking the ability to produce much sound outside of the nasal vents used for speech. In the absence of any instinctual noise cues, some marsuraptor cultures will include words that effectively mean "I am feeling (emotion)" to add a verbal component to expressions, although this is something that is far from universal.

Along with this, cultural expressions also include body language, which, like with humans, can range from long distance greeting gestures to rude expressions.

I realized this week that Tsyprucee has two moons therefore extreme tidal variation and seasons. Wolfmen live by the coast but they didn't look they did so I fixed it. They now have longer front limbs and are generally a lot more heron like.

Here are some of the main bodytypes from the main regions they are native to. There are exceptions to these like Caou wolfmen being costal but generally very bulky and some inland groups being slender. Polar individuals have no scales on their limbs for better heat retention.

Reference sheet for Marsuraptors, the primary sophont from my worldbuilding project Raptor's Oasis.

Marsuraptors are a spacefaring extraterrestrial sophont species, hailing from a distant earth-like planet. Marsuraptors were first encountered by humanity when a generation ship of their design entered our solar system.

A year after the first encounter, relations between both parties have remained rather anemic. With the generation ship's government adopting an isolationist policy. Despite this there are those on both sides, although small in numbers, working to establish contact with their new neighbors.

Currently drawing wolfmen and canihyir imagos and they look so fucked up and I love them for that.

I might add their larva life stage later. Also the weird bulge thing is a crop like a bird. Wolfmens eyes gain pigment as they age so pale eyes are seen as youthful.

Babe wake up 3rd official Sacred Estuaries Sophont just dropped

These guys are called Dragons in universe due to their hexapodal bauplan and them being the only sophonts capable of flight. No official colors for them yet so you are free to suggest stuff if you want!

Don't have much developed about them yet aside from the way they speak. Their speech itself is very flat emotionally. It's just a series of chirping and calling (similar to the sounds of a California Quail) that only imparts the actual words. In order to get the emotion and tone of their speech across, Dragons use small dose pheromone releases to emit a Scent (indicating emotional state) and wave their feelers around and tap eachothers faces (indicating intended tone of sentence). Example of an interaction pictured below.

The limb grasping isn't being used as a communication device here, rather as a friendly gesture like placing your hand on someone's shoulder.
