duke !
he is sat on a park bench reading a book he had just bought at an old thrift shop — private peaceful , the synopsis looked interesting enough . he feels at peace for once , the weather is nice and the sun is shining just right so he can read his book without feeling overwhelmed by light . he is just ending the third chapter when someone SCREAMS and duke feels his instincts start to kick in . is someone in trouble ? is someone hurt ? he gets up and shuts his book a little too hard before tucking it into a small bag he has brought with him to hold the book and only the book . he takes not one step before realizing where the noise came from and so he approaches the female , stature and demeanor unwavering , and holds his hand out to help her up . he does not speak , he finds no need to , but awaits her hand reaching for his to pull her up and help her to her feet . he really can’t imagine what a small girl like her is doing here , face first in the dirt …
WHEN SHE TURNS her head to the side, having to do so in order to breathe, she sees the shadow looming over her. she reaches up to take the frog off of her head only to once again find it gone. unfortunately for her, her tumble into the dirt has drained her energy completely, and so she simply sighs and takes the hand offered to her. ❝ thank you !! ❞ she says, smiling brightly despite how tired she is from running around. ❝ i didn’t mean to disturb you from... whatever you were doing. you wouldn’t have happened to see where that frog went, would you ?? ❞ she scans the area, but can’t see nor hear it. perhaps it’s blending in with the grass.
