it’s been said before and it’s not even close to the worst thing but it sucks how our current robber barons are such philistines. like these guys aren’t even building libraries or concert halls. they can’t even pretend to enjoy art, and they don’t see any value in signaling that they appreciate art

this current batch of the fithy-rich is BORING. They're BORING. Oh you have a yacht that's bigger than anybody else's yacht but functionally no different from one of your fancy houses? BORING. You have yet another fast car? YAWN. You ate a burger but like, a special burger? whatever. FUND AN OPERA ABOUT ANOTHER RICH GUY YOU HATE, DIPSHITS. How about you put a concert hall with your name on it in every city in the US and fund their operations for the next decade, if you're so rich????? unless you're too poor to afford that????? How many people do you, personally, directly employ, and what are their salaries? Do you pay well enough to command the loyalty and willing service of any masters of their craft? It would be so easy to win the absolute love and adoration of the masses in this climate but no, they wanna build bunkers and play politics in order to save a few more miserable nickles.

Weirdly enough, kind of an inverse of the Beetlejuice animated series, which had the first 3 seasons with relatively few eps, and then the fourth with a gargantuan amount, like more than the first three combined.

Which makes me think of how a One Piece/Beetlejuice crossover would go. Feels like a concept specifically made for @mmmskulljuice to do fanart of at the least...

I can almost guarantee that the reason that happened with Beetlejuice is they were sprinting to get to syndication numbers. 65 episodes used to be the magic number for that, later dropped to 52, then everything just spiraled into utter chaos as streaming and other on-demand options came along.

You'd usually see this in a 13 episode season 1, and 2 26-epsiode seasons that followed, though some times you'd get all of it one giant season, thus making it all the more baffling that there was no toy support or follow up (one of Dinosaucers many problems).

This did mean that most cartoons from my childhood wound up having a crackton of episodes. It also meant that once a show hit 65, it got increasingly difficult to justify making new ones.

Whereas the situation with One Piece, as I understand it, is that they've been going on an unbroken production streak for ages now, but they finally ran out of manga and the new system is to allow for the show to keep pace without the creator entering the speed force to keep pace with a release schedule only possible due to backlog (and, lets be honest, probably overwork).

On top.of that, the Beetlejuice cartoon specifically started as a weekly Saturday morning series on ABC for it's first three seasons, then jumped to daily syndication for its fourth, hence the sudden jump in episode count.
