Nat nodded slowly at his answer, but still thought it was fucked for him to take his frustrations out of the children he coached. Because in her mind, Nat held no doubt that his athletes and students were verbally abused just as much as everyone else here was.

"Fair enough. You know, I thought you would've been some kind of salesman, or business shark. I wasn't exactly expecting you to be having kids throw red rubber balls at each other." His remark about the hot moms made her skin crawl and left a bad taste in her mouth, but she didn't expect any less from a man who had a harem of wives.

She could tell he was suspicious, but she was going to do her best to smooth everything over somewhat. "I told you, I always put everyone else before myself. I didn't want the others to be unfairly punished because of my behavior." She looked down, her voice soft as she acted sweet and a little contrite.

For now at least, Negan seemed convinced that not only was she completely disconnected from Barnes and his pain in the ass daughter, but that she was finally seeing how things worked around her. People who cared that much about others didn't survive long in this world. But that was hardly his problem.

"Glad t'see you're finally seein how things run around her." He reached again to take hold of her chin, but this time it was more gentle. He'd already removed his glove when he removed his jacket and boots, leaving his hand bare this time. "Things here really aren't so bad once ya get onboard. Some even find it pretty good here if they play their cards right."

Nat was surprised he could be something that could almost resemble pleasant. Granted he was still oily like a used car salesman and as foul mouthed as a sailor, but she actually found herself relaxing a little around him.

"If you hate kids then why did you become a coach and teacher?" There was no malice in her question, just genuine curiosity. After all, it seemed ridiculous to go into a career doing something you hate. "Some kids can be, others are pretty great." Was she biased because of her love for her daughter? Probably, but she knew most often children were the result of their upbringing, and she can't imagine what Negan endured to end up the way he did.

Her heart clenched as he mentioned this child, knowing he was talking about Bucky and Ana. She kept calm, casually draping her long legs in his lap as she tried to steer him away from Ana and kids in general. "Now now, you're getting all worked up. I thiught you wanted me here to help you relax." She knew if he continued to talk about punishing Ana she would lose her temper.

Negan arched a brow at her question as to why he was a teacher and coach. To be honest, the real answer wasn't great. He tried out life as an athlete and just wasn't cut out for it. And as the saying goes...Those who can't do...teach. Something that Negan had come to know well...And felt resentment toward the whole world for it.

"Tried my luck in the leagues, didn't make the cut. And you know what they say about when people can't do." He chuckled sickeningly and shook his head. "Now...I stayed for the hot moms." He added grossly. He couldn't help but notice the obvious change in her tune when she draped her legs over his lap. Negan was a man who trusted very few people, and for good reason. He arched a brow and looked at Natasha suspiciously. "Yeah...You're right. Sooner I teach that brat how t'fall in line things'll calm down, they always do." He looked up her legs, and up to her eyes, smirking at her. "You've certainly changed your tune. Awful fast I might add.

Luckily, military life kept her in shape after having Ana, and her skin didn't have any telling stretch marks to indicate what she said was a lie. To her, Negan seemed pacified for the moment, having believed her fabrication. She was still a gorgeous woman, leanly muscled and full figured.

That... wasn't the answer she was expecting at all. Nat wasn't stunned often, but Negan got her this time. "Congratulations, you're the first man to take me by surprise. I never would've guessed yoi to he teacher and coach." She leaned only a little closer, intrigued by him. Playfully, she rolled her eyes at his words, a faint hint of a smirk in the corner of her lips. "I'm still hot, just not the MILF type you were expecting красавчик."

The fact that she could equally annoy the hell out of him, and yet make him want to keep her around had to be what made him think of Lucille whenever he looked at her. He chuckled at her comment about not expecting him to be a gym teacher. Not many did, he made it obvious that he hated kids. "Not surprised. I fuckin hate kids and I like to make it pretty known. Snot nosed little brats every single one of em." Something his dad used to say about him when he was growing up. He was right. Kids were the worst.

"This one for example. Thinks she's some princess cause her and her dad have been deliverin pretty good hauls. Thinks she fuckin runs the place." There was a dangerous anger there the more he talked about the mystery child. "Sometimes all they need's a good smack in line."

His grin made her skin crawl, but she knew she had him hook, line, and sinker. She would have to lie to his face, but that was the easy part. The smell of beer cut through the air and made her wrinkle her nose a little, never was fond of it.

"Widowed. He was a soldier, KIA.... we were going to try for a baby when he came back from deployment." She looked down, her voice quiet as she made her lie believable. After all, there was a small grain of truth in her statement- James was a soldier after all, just very much alive. The further she kept Negan away from Ana, the better. She wasn't going to let him harm her family, but it did hurt to lie about them so boldly. "You don't seem like the father type, so I'm not even going to ask. What did you do for a career before shit hit the fan?"

Widowed wasn't unbelievable He filed that answer away and nodded, giving another look up and down her form. He would have been surprised if there had been nobody at all. She was absolutely stunning. She reminded him far too much of his late wife.

"Gym teacher if you would believe it." He said before turning to sit at the foot of the bed, spreading his legs and smirking. "Baseball coach as well. Hated those little shits." He pointed at her and smirked. "You...You woulda made one hell of a hot mom though."

Nat looked up at him, her green eyes still intense as she held his gaze. Every muscles in her body was tense, but she didn't pull away from his touch. "I have nothing to hide Negan." She had to play nice, but she was honestly surprised that he wanted to know more about her. Any other time, or with any other person it could be considered charming- but with Negan she considered it more of an information fishing tactic.

"Born and raised in a Russian home for girls. Moved to the States as soon as I was old enough, and I never looked back. What about you красавчик?" Handsome, pretty boy. She was teasing him, her native language easily sliding off her tongue like syrup.

So she was foreign. He liked that. He grinned a sickening grin as he took another long swig of his beer, lining up his next list of questions when she asked hers. It made sense that she would be asking the same question back to him. He shrugged and rubbed his tongue between the front of his teeth and his gums, faking contemplation. "Virginia. Only child...small town...dad with too much time on his hands and too much beer." He leaned forward in his seat after placing his beer on the table. "Married?" He asked suggestively? "Had any babies cooked in that oven of yours?"

"You should've seen me before the world went to shit and I had proper makeup and hair products." Although her tone was dry, she made a joke to try ply him just a little. She knew he would see straight through any lies or over the top compliments when it was more than clear she despised him, so she decided to focus on herself- give him enough to satisfy his curiosity but reveal nothing damning.

A slight smirk tugged the corner of her lips as he looked her up and down, making her shamelessly recross her long legs. "Never been one for stories, but if you're willing to show me yours, I'll show you mine." Any scrap of leverage she could get was gold, and with her interrogation training she should be able to read him easily enough.

He had to admit, there was something about her that reminded him of a time long ago. A woman he couldn't seem to get out of his head, as much as he might like to. He smirked, nodding with a sick and poison chuckle. "This only works with complete honesty darlin." He had been crossing to her when he spoke, reaching to grip her chin lightly with his thumb and pointer finger. "I'm countin on it."

He let go gently this time, turning and walking back to sit at the table where he left his beer. "Question number one. Where is the read headed beauty from?"

Nat's nerves felt raw as she heard his footsteps, the hair on the back of her neck standing straight up. She didn't trust him, and she never would, but she would always put everyone else before herself.

"I don't like white, so I hope you don't mind that I chose a black gown instead." She stayed simply, ignoring his comment about putting in effort. While she didn't have her designer clothes and heels anymore, she was still a beautiful woman. She had even dabbed on a few drops of the oil Ana had found for her, the scent reminding her of her bed with James in their home.

"We all have secrets Negan, it's part of what makes us human. I just happen to put others before myself, always have, and always will. Nothing secret about that."

"To be honest...I prefer the black, seein it on you." He commented, biting his lower lip. He smiled at her attempts to play mind games with him. He arched a brow and nodded with amusement for the moment.

"Oh trust me...I know a thing or two about secrets darlin." He smirked and looked her up and down. "Come on...Quit toyin with me...Tell me a story!" He obviously faked excitement. "I'll make ya a deal. You answer one of my questions, and I'll answer one uh yours. I'll be completely honest, scouts honor. Got nothin t'hide." He truly didn't.

Nat's grip was firm but not painful, she was just trying to stop him, not hurt him. The last thing she wanted was for him to hurt any of the others here because she couldn't hold her temper. She always put others before herself, and the current state of the world only strengthened that instinct. Sleeping with an asshole like Negan would be the more palatable thing she'd done to save others.

"Two hours, you have my word." She nodded slowly, holding his gaze even as every thought in her brain was screaming at her to headbutt him or bite him. She relaxed at his words, glaring at his back as he walked away.

True to her word, Nat was waiting in Negan's room two hours later- freshly bathed, and wearing a black silk sleeping gown. Her stomach was churning and making her nauseous, but she remained calm on the outside- even as she ran a hand through her freshly brushed curls.

Honestly Negan would have been surprised if she had been late. Before he left he was pretty certain from looking at her that he had made his point crystal clear. Still, the altercation left him grumpy and relentless the rest of the day. He was going to need a beer and a pretty face by the end of all this.

Walking into his bedroom he took note of the red head sitting on his bed, she was on time. That was a good choice. "Well look who decided t'put in an effort." He chided before grabbing for one of the beers on the table He popped the cop off and took a long swig before putting it down and beginning to shrug off his coat. "You have some secrets darlin." He stated as he tossed the coat on the bed and took a step toward her. "I can see by how quickly you change your tune that there's somethin more about ya...so what is it? Huh?"

Nat's jaw clenched at his punishment, but it was enough to form a hairline crack in her facade. The last thing she wanted was the other wives or people of the compound to suffer because Negan felt the need to get into a pissing contest with her.

Quickly she went after him, grabbing his wrist but only to stop him. She wasn't stupid enough to fight or hurt him, not unless he started it first anyway. "Reverse the punishment and I'll do as you want. The others and their families are innocent and don't deserve the extra work."

The words were bitter in her mouth, but this would hardly be the first or last time she bargained with a man, not above resorting to using her body if it was required of her. She deserved the brunt of the punishment, not the wives or their families. And if she had to kiss Negan or sleep with him to shield the others, then she would.

The leader of the Saviors was surprised when she took hold of his wrist, causing him to look down at her hand before meeting her gaze. He could see he'd stricken a nerve with her, seeing her immediate attempts to save the others any punishment on her behalf. So she wasn't threatened by her own safety, but others suffering was something that obviously struck a nerve with her.

He pulled his arm from her hand, leaning forward until he was inches from her face. "Two hours." He stated plainly. "Not a minute later. Your ass better be in that room. There was a heated glare her way as he stepped away from her, turning to leave. "You're all in luck!" He announced, though his tone was not happy. "I've changed my mind. Business as usual ladies! As you were." With that he made his way out for now.

It wasn't out of the ordinary for some of the wives to be reluctant to their new role. It didn't mean it irritated him any less. There was a sick smirk on his face as looked looked around in fake bewilderment.

"Well look who's feelin sassy!" He exclaimed before turning back to her. Negan reached for one of her arms as she washed the laundry. Whatever task she had been set to didn't matter. "I wasn't askin..." He warned when he leaned in closer.

Nat had endured torture and every interrogation technique imaginable, Negan was child's play compared to that. As long as she kept collected he wouldn't have anything to leverage against her.

"I would hate it. No man puts his hands on me like that and walks away without a broken bone... or 3." She held his gaze, her tone just as cold. "I do my chores and pull my weight, I follow the rules."

Her jaw clenched when he tipped the bucket, her fist clenching as she resisted the urge to rush him and hit him with all her strength. "And you might want to get some ice for your ugly face." She snapped back, righting the bucket before gathering the wet laundry. As she bent over her tanktop rode up just enough, revealing the mess of old, shiny scars on her back- remnants of the beatings she recieved growing up.

Her attitude was getting on his nerves. He didn't bother to look away when her shirt rode up. It did however, allow him to take note of the impressive amount of obviously old scars, likely dating back to when she was young. Negan rolled his lips and smirked before looking to the room of wives.

"Listen up cause I'm only sayin this once." Negan paced the room, lazily swinging Lucille while the room of women stopped what they were doing and giving him their attention. Looking to Natasha he gave her one more warning look before he continued. She was going to learn consequences of her actions one way or another.

"Since there seems to be some confusion here on what your duties include, we're gonna take care of this problem right here...Right now." The women all looked at one another with confusion before looking back at him. "Starting now, until I see we're all on the same page, everyone here with family, they're families are about to get double the workload." He shot a glance at Natasha. "No exceptions." With that he clenched his jaw and shot a glare before turning on his heel to leave.

Nat smirked at seeing the blood on his chin, her green eyes harsh and intense as she held his glare. She wasn't afraid of him, and he wouldn't intimidate her. Although it was cute he thought he could turn her into some submissive and pliable wife. She remained tight lipped and unreadable, not willing to give him anything to use against her.

"You going to smack me around? Or have one of your little obedient lap dogs do it so you can get off to someone else's pain?" She was seething as she held his gaze, his touch making her skin crawl, but she defiantly remained silent when he asked his question.

She was good...Whoever this woman used to be before this shit show...She was obviously a master at her craft. He liked a little fire in a woman. He just needed to find the right leverage to get her to cooperate. Nothing like a good challenge to get him all riled up.

Her question caused him to raise a brow. "Why? Scared ya might like that?" He chuckled and shook his head. "Oh not now that you're expectin that. No...I think we'll just file that away." His eyes locked on hers. "You better learn how play by the rules and fall in line." He warned coldly. "I won't be so nice next time." Letting go of her chin harshly he stepped back from her. Not breaking eye contact with her only he was a few paces back before tipping the tub she'd been using to wash the laundry over onto the ground. "You uh...Might wanna clean this mess up."
