@ Anon, if you’re actually hanging around here, just let me say that I have no interest in talking with you further. I answered one question because the way I read it didn’t have to feel inflammatory, but now you’re spouting all the typical pro-choice accusations in my ask box, and while I may be willing to share my stance on occasion, I do not run this blog for the purpose of arguing those stances. I truly suggest you try doing actual research into what pro-lifers believe, and there are even blogs right here on tumblr that can educate you. (For example, did you know that many — if not the majority of — pro-lifers don’t believe that treating a mother whose pregnancy is dangerous is the same as murdering her child? Yes— even if that child dies as a result of the treatment. The difference is in treating both mother and child with dignity and trying first and foremost to do what is best for both of them.)

And if Anon isn’t watching my blog for the answer to their asks…? Then I guess this is just me shouting into the void. I know what I believe. I will stand up for it when I need to, but I will also not entertain bad faith arguments just for the sake of proving my points.

Why do you want unwanted children to be born?

I think the answer to a question like this is twofold. Firstly, “unwanted children” is not a universal condition; a child that is unwanted by their biological parents can be very wanted, loved, and yearned for by others. Secondly, a person being so-called “unwanted” does not negate their personhood. Lots of people are “unwanted” by other groups or individuals, but those groups and individuals don’t have the right to kill those people just because they don’t want them.

It’s not a question of “I started drawing this picture, but I don’t want to finish it.” It’s a matter of “This is a distinct person with unalterable human rights.” You can’t just scrap them like a piece of paper because you don’t want them.

I know we live in an imperfect world where children — even those that were wanted — aren’t always loved and protected the way they deserve to be. But killing them is never the answer. And if your solution is to cull the unwanted rather than to cherish them, you’re not taking the empathetic stance you think you’re taking.
