Sunny Days | Karen & Cliff
los-t-boy:
Cliff opens an eye to stare at his cousin, he never could understand why would hanging around someone as lame as him would be a good time. But each to their own, he supposes. He blinks the eye shut as she plays with his fringe. âI donât got much plans to do, either. Just lazing about in the sun sounds pleasant though.â A small breeze blew between the two, as the flowers and dandelions nearby swayed in the tall, tall, grass. The school probably needs to do their gardening duties soon. âHope I wonât bore ya.â
Karen laughed a little at the suggestion she would get bored hanging around him, tugging lightly at his hair in admonishment. No matter how often she made time for him, she had never managed to convince Cliff that he wasnât a burden on her. Even if they were different people though, she adored her cousin.
âYou need to stop that you know: looking down on yourself ainât gonna get you nowhere,â she said, smoothing the hair out of his face now that she was done fiddling with it. She knew she was the only person who got away with touching him so casually, though she wished that would change: Cliff really needed more people he wasnât perpetually nervous around. âIf you were boring, would I really still hang around?â
She leaned over him slightly to pick one of the flowers springing up from the long grass, tucking it behind his ear. She was tempted to pick more and make a daisy chain like they used to when they were young, looking at how many flowers were growing in the grassy area. It was definitely due to be mowed, though she would be sad to see it cut back to its usual boring, uniform length. It was too unnatural like that.
