Daisy hesitated for a brief moment, partially shocked to see May and partially because of the body directly in front of them on the floor. She trusted May with her life, so it was no question that she’d step in to help as she started to grab the man’s legs and raised her eyebrows. “Nice to see you again too.” She muttered.
Allowing Daisy to guide her through the basement door, Melinda readjusted the weight of the unknown man’s upper body once they began their descent down the stairs, feeling her muscles ache in protest she took in a deep breath before acknowledging Daisy’s greeting. Locking eyes with the young girl and giving what both, Daisy and Phil, had dubbed her ‘ total mom face ‘ Melinda spoke again.
“ Hi Daisy, it’s nice to see you again, i’ve missed you dearly, I apologize for the initial lack of warmth in this reunion however given shield’s most recent actions - I thought it best not to be caught with a corpse in my dining room.”
Though the reply was mostly sarcastic even Melinda could hear the warmth and sincerity behind her comment regarding missing Daisy. Stepping off the final stair Melinda turned them so that she had better access to the freezer chest located in the far corner of the open space reserved for storage. “ I only just got back state side yesterday, do you know what’s been going on ? From what I’ve heard I’m not the only retired agent that’s been given orders to report back for duty by tomorrow night.”
