Big things happening. Possibly to do with the next album. Take a look :)
Big things coming...
The Keep it Together Archives - trailer
this started out as just something i was making with videos from my camera roll of the stuff we got up to as a band over the last couple years. i wanted to make it for my dear friends mat & anna who are moving away tomorrow (with mat subsequently departing from the band’s lineup). however, i accidentally got too invested in making this something special, thus the serious and sort of emotional part at the end of the documentary (if you can even call it that) was born when i decided to step into director mode at the last show we played.
it’ll be out on our youtube channel sometime next week, but you don’t have to watch it. it was initially kind of only made to clear my camera roll and piece together some nice memories for my bandmates. but if you’re invested in us as people as well as musicians, maybe it’ll make for an interesting watch. maybe it’ll end up meaning as much to you as it does to me.
these guys have become such good friends to me over the last two years. i wasn’t sure what i was doing when i set out to add other musicians to the lineup of this project but things sort of just fell into place once i realised the people i met were just as invested in this as i was. we all had similar goals and motivations. we went through the emotional process of uniting our nerves and talents together on a stage in front of our friends & families, over and over again. that kind of thing bonds you. when you perform together, you either bomb together or you live out the greatest moment of your lives together. we’ve had bad shows and we’ve had amazing shows. the last one we played was the most special one yet because i could feel all the love we had for each other radiating through our instruments and voices. this was the first show where the audience could feel that love too. they sent it right back to us. it was such a special night.
i lack the filmmaking skills to show all of that in this documentary, but i sure did try. regardless of whether i achieved what i wanted to with it, i’m glad it exists. it’s a time capsule of our lives and our friendships. i’m almost hesitant to show other people.
i never got around to interviewing myself for this but i just hope the way this is shot and edited speaks for itself. i shot most of this footage myself - most of what you will see of these people in this documentary is through my eyes. this is how those memories are solidified in my mind. that should tell you everything & more about what i feel for everyone involved.
i hope to keep collecting evidence of moments like these as we continue on as a band. maybe i’ll make one of these every two years. i’m excited for what the future holds for us and i hope you are too.
BTW: i didn’t actually intend for lost dogs to become such a Thing. especially on twitter. of course i promoted it knowing that success was very much desired (as one can only hope after putting so much time and effort into their art!), but i didn’t expect it to really leave my general circle of friends & followers/mutuals.
it’s scary knowing that it’s entering the radar of those who dub themselves members of “music twitter”. i’ve seen some horrific things being said about genuine good, praise-worthy music. that’s considered nitpicking. i can only imagine every little fault of the album being dredged up by these very same people.

Thank you to everyone who got me to 50 likes!

i don’t freaking know what to call the new album
just started listening to you guys (thanks to my friend coby). I haven’t listened to much but you guys are cool
thank you!! coby has done more advertising for us than we have at this point, and it seems to be working. hope you decide to stick around :)
i didn't think i would ever be able to shake the frustration/dissatisfaction that comes with knowing that the people you were trying to speak to through the music aren't the ones that are most affected by it. but i realise now that it's a given with any art that you make.
once you're fine with that, it becomes easier to make these people your muses. you can be more honest without being blatant or hurtful. it's just a bonus if it ends up starting the conversation you didn't want to trigger head-on.
Talking about Making Space
i dubbed this a concept album when i made it, but i think i misunderstood the definition at the time. i’d written a handful of songs during the year, which i had intended to release as an EP or an album, but most of the demos i had remained unfinished, even by december.
all of these songs are about my time in san francisco, over my birthday & also the christmas period in 2021. the plan was to go for my birthday, meet up with my friends, and have a silly time together. you may remember the great resurgence of covid cases that occurred in november/december of that year, which definitely plays a part in this. but keep in mind i had booked my flight in june.
ticket to fly home
suddenly remembered this today
