have dnp celebrating the first day of ramadan 💞
Ramadan Mubarak habibi’s
Episode 16 - Dan had to rescue Phil from a “special massage”
What I liked:
1. I love these outfits. And Phil in his glasses is sending me!!!
2. The openers are always very interesting. My favorite one so far was the drug dealer or the “there’s a man in the room”
3. I only know what a happy ending is in these situations because of Schitt’s Creek. I love you Catherine O’Hara!!!
4. Jaw dropped when Phil said he said yes. I love that for him.
5. Gg on Helen for defending her dog and getting young Dan to snort his first bead.
6. Dan looks young but not that young??? Like I may expect him to be carded in a bar in America but he looks at least 18.
7. Did Phil join Dan to the party? I’m guessing not.
8. “I love lying”
9. I freaking love Phil I swear - because saying the squirrel fell out of the tree is much better than bursting out into laughter when someone is saying a sad story.
10. Love Dan’s reaction to Phil pointing out he said 100%. The defeated slump. Adorable. Move on!!!
11. We really need a drinking game for how many times 100% is said.
12. Dan and Phil you thespians. I was a spider in the itzy bitzy spider in my school play.
13. I’ve never read Romeo and Juliet so I don’t know who Benvolio is he the one that dies? Or is he the one killed?
14. We were going to read it in my English class and the guy I liked got Romeo and I so badly wanted to get Juliet (we’re talking 6th grade here so I was pathetic lol) but I ended up getting her nurse. I actually got so upset. We never finished it.
15. I love the Shakespeare rendition but I did have to fast forward it lol I can’t do that for some reason.
16. That’s a good question from Richard. There was a lot of introspection in this and I loved it.
17. “I don’t you to die and I’m still alive” kill me now? Tonight? Please?
18. Apparently they switched sweaters? The colors of Phil’s initial sweater match Dan more and Dan’s initial sweater matches Phil more. I’ve never watched Bert and Ernie so I don’t know if there was a personality matching thing going on.
19. Second HL: 100% agree. Onions are amazing. Raw. Grilled. Whatever other way they can be made. Beautiful creation given to earth.
20. “Fuck you, cunt.” Shall I tattoo this?
21. Phil’s take on tomato’s and cheese are completely valid and I agree.
What I don’t like:
1. I kinda want Dan to not know the material discussed in Here’s the Thing. Let him be surprised with us.
2. 100% Dan should have answered that question. You know where you would be in that Olympic sport I don’t know the name of.
3. When Dan says he doesn’t have a personality, I think everyone went to their first mukbang because this isn’t the first we’ve heard this. It’s sad that he still feels this way and in general still to himself entertains depreciating thoughts when he’s a big proponent of mental health. I think it would be really nice to see him engage in those thoughts but self correct and reassess.
4. First HL: first, idc; second, wtf? No seriously what and why? Listen I get that maybe this girl was trying to be encouraging because Dan talks about going to the gym, but like we don’t know their relationship with food and if they have a hard time with it and they act normal about it in front of the camera, etc… idk a random person suggesting to them what they should try and eat is fucking weird to me. Don’t comment on other people’s food choices.
5. Third HL: wtf. I skipped after the initial statement.
6. Idk these just proved that we don’t need the hard launches???? I don’t know I’m not liking them and I honestly think it’s dead air when we get to them.
Heated Rivalry Thoughts
Hudson Williams, if I am correct, is Korean-Canadian. Shane Hollander in the book and in the series is Japanese-Canadian. Yuna Hollander is Japanese. Christina Chang is Taiwanese-Filipina American.
I have always had this issue with shows making races that are geographically close and may have correlating appearances interchangeable.
It perpetuates this idea that all Asians are interchangeable and that is not the case. If they were set on Hudson Williams why not change the character to Korean American in the show and find an actress of Korean decent to play the mother, or the other way around. Why continue this racist ideology that people of color are all one group of people.
Maybe I'm over thinking it and I think the show is great, but this part really irks me.
Also Shane raised in an Asian household should have absolutely taken off his shoes before entering Ilya's house - that also kills me.
Nah man that new video was funny as hell. I wish the dates were all longer - and I get the hype for Elias, adorable man. I want more hype for Reese!!! He was great!!
okay I'm the height anon but I was NOT the last anon, just wanted to make that clear. Also ahhh I understand now, I'm Arab too so I'm also used to men on the shorter side tho I live in the states so i often see the height difference between my relatives and European Americans
No I totally figured they were not from the same person - one was being informative and the other was being nasty lol.
Same - we are in similar circumstances!! I have a few Iraqi friends that are shorter than the Lebanese people I know. I love the diversity we're exposed to in terms of height and appearance.
you really drop being arab here a lot. we get it. your arab
I am, yes!
I'm proud to be Arab. I also like saying it to show diversification in the fandom - that Dan and Phil are enjoyed also by people who have stereotypically conservative upbringings, etc...
And, most importantly, Arabs exist in the wild brother...
5'5" is pretty short for British men, it's in the 5th percentile meaning that 95% of the adult male population is taller than that
Okay, so that does sound short for British men lol. I just looked up the average height for a few other places. In America is it 5'9, in Lebanon it 5'9, and in Iraq it's 5'5.
I didn't hear that they said 5'5 is short for men and thought they were saying that is objectively short, which is what my qualm was with.
Episode 15 - Dan accidentally joined a fan group chat
I actually listened to the hard launches today and I am semi tempted to submit my own but my name is so different that if it goes online and people I know stumble across it they will know it is me... I could lie and say my name is something else, but that takes away some ~magic~ in terms of the interaction with Dan and Phil.... ALAS I KNOW NOT WHAT TO DO!!!!
What I liked:
I like what they were wearing.
“You didn’t even say bye.” Let me cry.
I have noticed that it is a very couple-y thing to be mad at a partner for something they-adjacent did in a dream. It is cute to hear about it from them.
Honestly this is one of the best openers they have had on the podcast and I wont lie, their openers are some of the best parts of the entire podcast, so that’s a lot.
I’m huge on fleeces, so this is very in my element. Phil’s is very nice and I am jealous; Dan’s is a fleece.
Phil had a very good opportunity to make a funny lewd gesture and resisted and as the prude I am, I wish he had just knocked his groin as a joke.
“Coordinated assault”
“Whimsical homosexual”
Episodes 5 and 6 of Heated Rivalry are the BEST in the series!!!
RECOMMENDATION: IF YOU ENJOY HEATED RIVALRY PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE CHECK OUT ‘CHECK, PLEASE!’ READ FOR FREE AT OMGCHECKPLEASE.TUMBLR.COM!!!!!!!! such a wholesome read!!!!!
Listen I have over 15 years of searching and experiencing queer media/art, I have insane recommendations, let me know!!!
Love the way Dan says Mario.
“sometimes a dust goes in at the last second.”
I think Dan and Phil would thrive in “Arab time” meaning they can be late but will actually be late or on time. For example, a wedding starts at 6:30, guests start really coming in at 7:30, and the couple does not come out until 8:30, dinner served at 9ish.
Americans are the butt of some of the best jokes here – RFK has a worm for a brain, bot just a brain worm.
The miming from Phil is just too cute for me sometimes, he literally wants to be connected even in the smallest of things.
I’m on British food tiktok and I ended up buying malt vinegar to put on steak fries and the Heinz beans, I haven’t tried either of them but I’m desperate to go to England for all the food. I’m a vegetarian, so it may be hard to get a proper English breakfast on that kind of dietary restriction??
15m 09s – thank God you are gay and desperate, bc that is not appropriate – DANIEL NOOOOO.
Genuinely though, Dan and Phil are a very attractive couple. When I would see them back in 2012-2016, I did not expect this kind of glow up.
American’s do love suing people… and as a lawyer I've seen some weird shit...
Of course, Phil would have no issue dating a short man in theory, he’s lucky Dan sprouted like a sunflower.
“You blessed us with all this length” I feel like we were all blessed with it.
What a double-edged sword for the group chat situation. It is very exciting for the fans and less so for the celebrities, especially since dan is out now. I need to do that. With Hozier or Mae Martin or something.
Loved everything with the “duck” situation and the junk mail dramatic reading. Very funny.
Get married already.
HALL PASS NOT HALLWAY I LOVE THAT.
Vegetarian hard launch: I totally understand her smelling the chicken – I love the smell of fried chicken and each time it’s been made in my home I linger and really question whether I want to be a vegetarian.
Things I don’t like:
I love a strong vinegar scent – I shall take no slander – I am no pervert and I am no freak!!!
5’5 is not short wtf…
I do not understand the interaction that took place at 18m 58s – can someone explain please????
I think they agreed on the celebrity thing – Phil said it is for the uber famous and Dan said it is for the professionally famous, I think these are the same thing but said in different ways???
Matcha hard launch: I think people like this – that say coffee and matcha have integrity that cannot be messed with in terms of adding flavors, etc… - are borderline pick-me’s. and this is coming from someone who drinks my coffee black and matcha plain. I think a lot of this discourse in terms of coffee is juvenile because why are we thinking there is such thing as a ‘proper’ way to consume a food or a drink? Like I’m not edgy or cool because I don’t like cream or sugar in my coffee or matcha. It’s just weird to me.
why is it nice to see an arab in "this atmosphere"
"This atmosphere" - meaning one that I haven't seen an Arab in before.
I know nothing about this girl - I'm just going off her name. For context I am American-Lebanese/Lebanese-American, whichever is first is a big debate amongst the community. I live in an area where there are literally hundreds of people exactly like me and we all have relatively the same professions - doctors, engineers, lawyers, pharmacists, dentists, etc... our older generation did not instill the ideology that pursuing something primarily creative - writing, music, art, content creation, etc... - was worth anything because it meant not much money and not much prestige. We are all in a tight mold and while I always thought I would not fall into the trap laid out for me by my family, I did. I did what they wanted me to do and I didn't do what I wanted to do with my life. And that'll be the heaviest thing I carry for the rest of my life.
That is why I like seeing younger Arabs - wherever they are and whatever kind of Arab they are - break outside of the mold. Once again tho, I know nothing about this girl specifically so she may not have been in the same mold as me to begin with, but to me there is a mold and she is not in it and that is admirable. But maybe someone somewhere sees an Arab win a grammy, win an Oscar, or a Tony or the Noble Peace Prize, or the Booker prize, and it triggers something in them to break out of that mold. Or a Muslim sees Zayn Malik eat halal chicken in 2010 on X-Factor and starts to think they can do that too. People and the spaces they occupy mean something to someone even if they are just living their normal life. Everything can be inspiring and admirable.
That's all. Meant no offense by using the term "atmosphere."
Episode 14 - Would We Keep Doing This if We Broke Up
Phil’s bday episode!!!!
Just watched the video this week because work and laziness caught up to me. So I’ll go backwards and forwards at the same time.
What I liked:
2m 30s - the cake was cute it would have been very funny and on brand if one of them dropped it while trying to fix it.
3m 16s - “what body part of me do you want to eat?” Beautiful. Sensational.
Listen I love them but the interaction with the cake wasn’t super funny, like LOL funny to me. I’m not sure if this is the difference between American and English humor.
They’re filming this in the morning and having something so sugary like cake that’s impressive. Let them eat cake.
4m 41s - Phil pulling off his face and Dan’s reaction was LOL funny tho. Are the producers/editors giving pity laughs?????
Some favorite quotes:
Auto-cannibalism
Bite my nipple
Chew it (the nipple)
Eat it (the nipple)
Phil your nipple tastes amazing
I don’t know why but I love Dan’s hand movements most of the time - I love that he touches his mic.
Phil’s suggestion of splitting family and friends into very small groups to have multiple celebrations is so smart.
“Have more fun with you.” Kill me. Shoot me dead right now.
9m 2s - when Phil relents and calls the shirt holographic is adorable.
Phil teaching us that whatever we believe can genuinely happen is very cute.
I just noticed their producer’s surname is Al-Mitwally - this is mainly an Egyptian surname but it is also a word used for a specific group of Lebanese people. She’s Arab, doesn’t really matter from where, but it’s so nice to see an Arab in this atmosphere.
17m - when Dan said “and here I am 16 years later…” I interpreted it to mean that he was the one that was more attractive when Phil is horny - but Phil thought it was the other way around ?? Someone please let me know if I was wrong ??
Dan always does insanely thoughtful gifts and like it inspires me to do better in my own gift giving.
The hard launch was a confirmation that they will never break up.
“What that I’m a slut?????”
Phil as office mediator - fan fic writers: Phil is an office manager and Dan is the guy who steals peoples stuff from the fridges, etc… and eventually its found out that Dan is just a terrible time keeper so he gets up late and forgets to eat unless food is directly in front of him so Phil starts bringing in extra stuff and leaving it right there for Dan, and he picks up on what he likes and doesn’t like and at first it was to keep the peace but other stuff happens, idk the rest that is on you!!!!!
Woah BBC Radio 1 mention.
I am on Dan’s side - if there is no one there sit, if someone comes, move. No crime committed.
Despite number 3 of what I do not like, this prompt was very interesting. This was genuinely funny and interesting and potentially made the other boring prompts worth it.
What I didn’t like:
Clean the cake omg.
Did they answer the title prompt??? would they???
I honestly don’t think they need Richard each episode, especially when they prompts are so mundane as “lumberjacks” etc…. I think they could have continued the discussion on how they would describe themselves to others.
Always skip the audience hard launches, sometime they feel inauthentic and performative. But that’s just me.
So very behind on the podcast reviews!! I've listened to them during my drive to work, but haven't had the chance to sit down, timestamp, and reflect on them. But I am looking forward to doing it before the podcasts comeback.
Also really looking forward to tomorrow's wdapteo - these are some of my favorite videos. Especially since I put in my one-week notice on Friday, effectively quitting my insanely dead-end, racist, sexist job on January 2, 2026, but they said that this Monday can be my last day. I'll turn in my equipment and never see that shit hole or those asshole supervising attorneys ever again God willing. I'll also do a reaction on this!!
The amount of vitriol I've seen aimed at Dan and Phil since the Femboy Banana Bread video came out is horrendous to see on Twitter/X.
My heart breaks that people still feel the need to absolutely try and tear down two people who just love each other and who upload silly little videos to Internet.
I thought the world was slowly progressing, but I guess not!
The fact that they both are unapologetically themselves now, and are getting extreme backlash for that us abhorrent. And I'm not even going to touch the gender argument I've seen going around... mainly because...
IT'S NONE OF OUR BUISNESS!!
I really hope they've seen the outpouring of love from the Phandom and fans in general and can ignore the homophobic attacks from people who clearly have nothing better to do that sit behind a keyboard and type horrible things, knowing they wouldn't say it to their faces!
I’m confused about this - are their fans on twitter/x complaining about the outfits? I think I saw the gender thing, but can someone explain this situation to me??
Not their fans, their fans are trying so hard to combat the negative tweets from everyone else outside the phandom.
It's those that have only seen the newest video, and because they've announced they've been in a relationship for 16 years, obviously, the spotlight has thrusted them into focus so much outside the phandom, because people who have never really been following DnP are now curious and like "who are these guys?".
And yeah... it's been horrible to see that homophobia is still so rampant these days, especially when aiming it at two people who have literally done nothing wrong but be their true, authentic selves for the first time in 16 years...
Thank you for the explanation! It’s really disgusting to see what people can say towards others for being different from them.
I thought it was fans being that way towards them after the video and I’m only in this space and saw that the majority of fans loved it.
I think people giving them grief abide by “misery loves company.” They’re living life un-bothered and are maintaining a strong fan-base and haters don’t think they should be allowed to be outlandish and be popular and be loved and be comfortable, etc… and so they try to take them down a notch by being mean and nasty. Idk if anyone has brought up their age but I have always thought of how amazing they are for being the way they are at their age. I’m only a few years younger than Dan (I’ll try not to age myself) and I’m always in my head about “acting me age” but then they constantly remind me that that in and of itself is an arbitrary concept we’ve made up to steal some light in our lives.
Honestly all we can hope for is that they either don’t see this type of hate or that they expected it and remain unbothered by it because they know their audience and they’re done with hiding these parts of themselves.
I always wish them the best because they’re doing something so difficult and I appreciate them for being a spark of joy in my life and the lives of many others.

i appreciate the way you're reviewing the podcast in a thorough list
Thank you!! This has motivated me to do better in the reviews!
(Let me know if you wanted this answered privately!)
you seem fun at parties
This is very kind, especially if I seem cool online, but unfortunately very untrue. I'm a master at being a wallflower and practicing an Irish goodbye.
Edit: did not occur to me that this could be sarcasm?? If it is, I think this is funny, I seem as uncool online as I am in person and I shall take that as a gift.
Episode 2 - the truth about the day we met
Some favorite moments of mine from the podcast:
1. The sheep graveyard story was funny.
2. Glad they hard launched spooky week.
3. Love the justification for the fist in the red carpet photos. Give us Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka on the red carpet.
4. After the first podcast video, I retract my earlier concern of whether people would do both the audio and the video.
Some things I didn’t like:
1. Once again the title was a short element of the entire 40 minutes - to me, they either do a little more with it or find an element they talk about more and use that as the title. An unfiltered story of how like what went inside their minds as they were two random boys connecting online and then meeting in person, what was the driving force to do that, etc...
2. I felt that this episode was a little more disorganized - I really feel like they should come up with a few things that work together in terms of theme, feel, time-period, etc... and create a chain of conversation.
3. I'm not a fan of the ending segment with the audience hard launches, sure they're entertaining, but once they come on I consider the podcast done.
4. Call me a prude, talking about what they would have sex with in the room is a little weird, on character maybe, but like very strange to me lol. Also the boob thing, weird.
Edits shall come after a second listen...
Edit 1 - concerned that the views for episode two are significantly lower than episode one. A general concern of mine for this rebrand is that the traction is lost so they're going to run out of things to say/do.
