“S-Sorry.” She apologized, sheepishly. She bent her head and continued to eat the fruit in front of her. “L-Lana.” She said introducing herself and looking up at him. “Better than me.” She stated softly.
Tai couldn’t help but chuckle a little. For the first time, to his knowledge, he was doing better than someone else in a conversation. “How’re you liking it here so far?”

“U-Um…” She hesitated at first but nodded her head and sat down across from him. “Sure, actually… Thank you… Again.” She gave him a small smile and continued to devour the fruits in her hand.
“No need to thank me so much. It’s not like I saved China, or the island or-“ he stopped himself from continuing, taking another bite of his apple. “I’m Tai. Probably not making much of a first impression.“

She turned around and sighed, happy to know where it was but also kicking herself for not seeing it. “Thank you.” She shook her head and shrugged at the boy’s question before heading towards the table. She grabbed the closest piece of fruit and bit into it. She took a deep breath and grabbed some grapes and a pear knowing this would help. She went back to him and nodded her head. “Thank you again.”
She didn’t really answer his question, but he supposed her response would have to do. When she came back over to him and thanked him for a second time, he gave her a curt little nod. “You wanna sit? I mean, I’ve been told it’s better to sit while you eat.”

Melody nodded her head in understanding. “No it’s definitely not.” She grinned, shaking her head and running her fingers through her hair. “Is that where you’re from? China?”
Tai nodded his head, having taken another bite of his apple. Cheeking the food in his mouth, he added, “It’s very different from here.” Aside from where they were was an island, and China was a country.

Melody smiled happily. “It’s nice to meet you Tailong!” She chirped, taking her hand back and brushing her hair back behind her ear. “Like it here so far?” She asked, wanting to make polite conversation
“It’s nice to meet you too.“ She must have been exuding a sense of calm, because he wasn’t stuttering, or overly worrying about what she might be thinking about him. “It’s different. Definitely not China.“

joel got scared, getting to his feet. ‘everything's fine’ went through his head and soared a circle around him. “could i get you some water? i didn’t mean to..” he blinked a couple of times. that wasn’t what he wanted for the other.. “i am sorry. let me start over. my name is joel snoozy. i came over here to talk or meet new people in the cafeteria.” he held out a hand. “here. and you are?"
Tai recovered relatively quickly, swallowing what he could, and slightly coughing. “I’m okay. Honest.” When he’d finally fully recovered, he took the other’s hand, and said, “You can call me Tai.”

“an apple. huh? i grabbed this yellow one” he let out a small yawn and stretched out his arms. joel sat down across from him. “is everything alright? what are we looking for?” the boy grinned, looking around the cafeteria as well.
Tai was startled by the other, nearly choking on the piece of apple in his mouth. For a second he thought he might understand what Snow White had felt when she was choking on the poisoned apple. “Uh, n-nothing.” He paused for a moment, mentally checking off a list, making sure he wasn’t in any immediate danger of the other. “Everything’s fine.”

She smiled when he said she could sit down and sat at the table, looking around briefly. She looked to him and held out her hand. “I’m Melody… Melody White.” She introduced, a cheerful and kind smile on her lips.
Tai looked at her hand for a moment, and then back up at her. It was only polite to return the gesture, and the introduction. Tentatively, he took her hand in his, and gave his own name. “Tailong Dragon.” He found it quite amazing that he hadn’t stuttered over his name.

Lana was starting to feel light headed. Thankfully, it wasn’t from a lack of iron but rather sugar. She had find the dining room/cafeteria area, but wasn’t able to pinpoint any sweets or fruit.
She glanced around some more and noticed a boy with an apple. Gathering all of the courage she had in her (which wasn’t very much) she walked up to the boy. Avoiding making direct eye contact for too long, she started to speak. “U-Um, w-where did you get the apple?”
Tailong was startled by the voice asking about the fruit in his hand. When he looked up, he noticed that the girl didn’t look too well. “Uh, o-over there,” he said, pointing at a table that had the bowl of fruit he’d gotten the apple from. It was pretty well hidden. “A-are you okay?”

Melody had wandered into the cafeteria, or what she called a cafeteria. Really, it was just a place that would provide them with food if they didn’t want to cook themselves or buy food out.
She looked around after grabbing her lunch, just a buffalo chicken wrap and a fruit cup, trying to find somewhere to sit. There was a lot of empty spots but she didn’t want to eat alone.
Seeing a boy sitting by himself, she walked over with a kind smile. “Hello, may I sit here?”
Tai’s anxiety began to rise when he noticed that someone was coming over to the table he was sitting at. “Uh, s-sure.” She was free to sit anywhere she wanted. His eyes returned to his apple; he was suddenly very self aware. He took another shy bite from his apple, wondering if he should say something, or simply sit in silence.

Tai sat at a table in the cafeteria. He was playing with the bright red apple that he had chosen from a fruit bowl. He couldn’t help but think back to the panic attack he’d had earlier. People able to watch every move he made to calm himself down. It was embarrassing, especially for a dragon.
Sighing, he took a bite of the apple and looked around to see what other’s might be doing.
