“Ah, well, I’m a little older than that.” Cas winked cheerfully, swallowing the drink that was put in front of him. “I know two brothers who’ve also had to learn through experience, but they aren’t even 40, unfortunately. Humans lead some harsh lives. I imagine turning into a vampire wasn’t your choice?” Castiel asked when he was out of earshot of the bartender that had left the bottle for the two of them.

“I’m not Mormon.” Cas rolled his eyes a little, giving a little sigh.

“Whiskey… you and one of my friend’s would get along.” Cas laughed.

They entered the nearby bar that Castiel had originally ran into his troubles and sat at the bar with his new vampiric friend. “Two whiskeys, please.” Cas told the bartender, getting a flirty wink from her. He cocked his head to the side and then turned his attention to Cassidy.

“I think you should be happy with your choices.” Castiel deadpanned, not sure why the man’s attire bothered him. Tackiness aside, it was probably because he was wearing it to avoid the sun which was not like the vampires he knew of at all. 

“Well, I’m not. Though, sometimes I am. Depends on the case.” Cas squinted, before turning on his heel when he had nothing else to say. He stopped when he heard that the man was “fun” and thought of Dean. “You’d get along with someone I know.” Cas rolled his eyes and smiled. “Come on. I owe you a beer for the help you gave me. It’s the least I can do.”

“Trust me lad.  I am totally ‘appy wit’ me choices.”  He says as he pushes up his sunglasses. Except for the ones that let him actually have friends and love and then having it blow up in his face. . .literally in one case.   

“Are ye sure ?  Ye remind me o’ people I used ta scare off me apartment wit a ‘orsemask because they were tryin’ ta sell me magazines and were Mormons.”  He says and follows close to him.  “God I ‘ate ta Mormons wit’ there tucked in shirts and ties.”  

 “Now yer speakin’ my language !  Though a whiskey can ‘it tae spot.”  He’s a typical ( or stereotypical depending on who you ask) Irishman what can he say.

“I’m no hallucination.” Castiel blushed, looking down. “Unfortunately, there are no benefits for the life me and my friends lead, and I’m far from business-like. I’m just…me.” He shrugged. “And you’re…a vampire? I’ve never met one who had to wear so many layers.” The man wasn’t too poorly dressed, but he was definitely a little more gaudy than most, and Castiel got the impression that it wasn’t from a lack of fashion sense. 

“I’m an Angel.” He confessed. “It’s how I can sense that you aren’t like everyone else. Which is fine, by the way. You saved my life, so you can’t be completely bad. Not that I can judge. I’m no saint.”

“Aye tha’ I am.”  He says and sips his whiskey.  He looks down at his clothes.  Right now he’s dressed in a woman’s butterfly shirt and sweatpants being held together by a rope.  “Oi !  Ye try shoppin’ fer clothes in ta light. . .besides I t’ink I look quite good.”  Cassidy says and models the clothes for him.  Cassidy is not shy about anything and if you asked him to strip he will. . .and make a joke about it.

“An angel ?  God ye look like yer part o’ tha’ bleedin’ gov’ernment.”  He says and eyes him up and down.  Quite a weird angel but hey Cassidy likes Justin Bieber and Chinese food who is he to judge.  “Well le’s jus’ say I’m not really one o’ ta good guys. . .I’m wha’ ye call. . .a fun guy.”  And Cassidy’s definition of fun knows no bounds.

“Well, I exist, so…” Castiel shrugged. “I also have something important that will help my friends, and demons aren’t really exactly too keen on them.” He told the Irishman, staying vague as to what that item was. He could sense the man wasn’t human. He didn’t smell human, that was for sure. “Are you a hunter? You fight pretty well for someone who was just walking by.”

The whole mess started with little whispers.  He’d been on enough different kinds of drugs to recognize the beginnings of a hallucination.  This time, he doesn’t have that excuse. Maybe it’s the heat. He’s somewhere in the desert, between Arizona, Nevada and California and has been wandering two days - walking all night, hiding between large rocks and in tiny caves during the day. He figures he has to be getting close to some sort of civilization by now. Hopes, anyway.

He doesn’t remember when he started talking to himself. At some point the whispers turned into something else. There isn’t an exact moment he can pin down for the change. It’s just that one moment he’s walking through the brush-swept desert by himself, and the next there’s a shadow matching his steps. He’s begun to hear his thoughts outside of his head. This is stupid, rings just by his ear. He wholeheartedly agrees.

“Be a lot easier jus’ givin’ up, mate,” says the shadow, full-voiced and tangible.

The real Cassidy just chuckles at that, rubbing his tired face. Can he get circles under his eyes ? If he can he probably has them right now. The concept of what he can and can't do gives him a headache and with the lack of drugs and lack of proper blood sources, he's expericing it ten fold.

Giving up does sound easier. Would be so much better anyways, not like anyone is here to miss him anyways. He can't thought. Not yet at least.

Hey, Preacher is the only show on TV that I can think of that’s got Frankie Muniz playing Frankie Muniz in a commercial with a guy who pretended to be actual God right before an entire town imploded because the BDSM hooker didn’t know how to work the control things and a kid nicknamed arseface because his face looks honest to god like an ass gets his own subplot where he hangs out with literal Hitler for episodes at a time but it’s cool because Hitler is less of a creep than the date-rapist preppy dude and all the while a preacher a vampire and an assassin are on a quest to find not-fake God and Jesus may or not be retarded but that’s the least of their worries when the assassin gets assassinated and the preacher has to face his crazy abusive family whom he hasn’t spoken to in years but may or may not be able to raise the dead so he has to suck it up to save the love of his life and maybe God is also a Furry.
