“Art is happening everywhere all of the time” but an awful lot of it seems to only ever happen in New York and London, doesn’t it?

#one of my high school choir teacher's favorite musicals of all time is merrily we roll along and to this day it is a formative one for me #I was lucky enough to see it done in a smaller production around 2018 #but even then it was an off broadway production in new york that we saw on a trip #to this day I think about aspects of the way it was done even before I was all that into media analysis #but I have not seen a production of it since #and a lot of things I feel really are inaccessible outside of major cities #and most that are more obscure are a result of major nerds in charge of local/school theater departments and are therefore an exception #unfortunately

Actually, no I’m not gonna keep my commentary to the tags.

This was my parents’ car after being plowed into by a pickup truck driver who was too busy on his phone to see the only other car on the rural road they were on. This crash nearly killed my parents, landed them in the hospital and rehab for months, and permanently disabled them.

PUT THE FUCKING PHONE AWAY WHILE YOU’RE BEHIND THE WHEEL. WHATEVER YOU ARE DOING ON IT IS NOT WORTH YOUR LIFE OR THAT OF ANOTHER PERSON’S.

"what did students do before chatgpt?" well one time i forgot i had a history essay due at my 10am class the morning of so over the course of my 30 minute bus ride to school i awkwardly used by backpack as a desk, sped wrote the essay, and got an A on it.

six months later i re-read the essay prior to the final exam, went 'ohhhh yeah i remember this', got a question on that topic, and aced it.

point being that actually doing the work is how you learn the material and internalize it. ChatGPT can give you a short cut but it won't build you the the muscles.
