The wolf has run away | Ned + Robb
Robb arched an eyebrow, part in amusement and part in curiosity. “Frightened him? Jon? What, did he forget to comb his hair again?” He half-smirked, but his expression quickly sobered. The Starks took these things seriously. “Of course he has a place with us. I’ll make my best effort with him. Now that he knows our connection, perhaps he’ll understand why he caught me trespassing on their land a month or so back…” He smiled gently.
“The Lockwood boy will be well taken care of, and the girl - Lydia - as well. I’ve met her - I believe she’ll take well to the transition. She has a…strong character.” Robb glanced over at his father. After all these years, he still wanted to impress him with his ability to handle every situation and be Ned’s right-hand man, so to speak. Who didn’t want their father’s approval, deep down? Robb was just a bit more obvious about his admiration. Eddard Stark was a great man - and a great wolf. “And we can handle any others that may pop up, though it is concerning how many are coming through. That means the vampire population’s probably on the rise as well…” He frowned. “And what happened on Halloween, exactly?”
He couldn't help but chuckle at Robb's jape, Jon and Robb had a love of teasing one another, but that was just what brothers did. "He knocked the boy out and chained him up... but I could well imagine Jon's unkempt hair would be far more terrifying." He patted Robb's shoulder and gave him a warm smile before letting his arms fall back to his side as they walked. "I think the Lockwoods shall come to trust us well enough and we can teach them all their family was not able to. As for the girl... I hope that you're right..." But she was a young girl who knew nothing of the supernatural and sometimes a strong character was the cover of choice for weakness. Some female influence may be best for her, but neither Catelyn nor either of his daughters were here...
He shook the thoughts away and returned to his son, "We shall handle all that challenges us and keep this town protected as well as the young wolves." The thought of vampires was a troubling one, Ned had little love for them it was true, but even so the face of a child he had once loved as a daughter did make him falter some. "There was a wolf attack, a girl was injured - though I believe not bitten."
The Starks that once were
Asymmetries of Loss | Ned and Erza
It was only a matter of time before Catelyn and the rest of his children appeared, he was sure of it. And while their children may really be over one thousands years old, they were stuck in the bodies of children and they had to keep up appearances. While Sansa did seem to rather enjoy attending school, Arya on the other hand enjoyed getting into trouble. Where his children and wife were, he did not know but he was sure it was only a matter of time before they came back to him. So he would prepare for them, he would be ready for when they came home.Â
So that was what brought him to Mystic Falls High School in a meeting with Mr Fitz. "I realise my daughters will have missed out a substantial amount of work for this year, so I was wondering what possibilities would exist for them to catch up?"Â
Papa Wolf | Tyler and Ned
Tyler nodded slowly when Ned said he wasn’t sure. He was starting to lean more and more towards being adopted every day that someone couldn’t give him an answer as to why his father didn’t shift. He didn’t ask anymore though, there was no point in it. Ned wouldn’t magically find out an answer while standing there. He stuck his hands in his pockets when Ned said Jon would be on his best behavior, “Good. Because I still get headaches when I think about it…” He said, shaking his head. He paused for a moment before looking up, his eyes meeting Ned’s. “One more thing…” He had told Serena he would talk to Jon, but Ned was slightly less crazy than Jon, so maybe Ned was the better bet, “If I knew another… one of us… without a pack, would you be willing to help her too?”
Ned could find answers, Ned would find answers as to why his father didn't shift but that wasn't his priority, the new wolf was. He didn't have his father and sometimes Ned felt him slipping into that role without meaning to; he was a warrior of course, even after all these years he still yearned for a sword in his hands but since he had held his first babe in his arms he would never stop being a father. He wasn't this boys Alpha but he still felt responsible for him, wanted to protect him. Being a wolf didn't just mean you were a danger to others, but you were a danger to oneself as well.Â
"Of course, we will help any and all wolves. If you would tell me who they are?" He didn't want to push the boy, he didn't want to lose his trust but if there were more wolves he had to know. There had been one attack already there couldn't be more, he had to help these pups.Â
The wolf has run away | Ned + Robb
Robb’s eyes narrowed slightly. Neither parent shifted? That certainly gave him pause. He’d already had the father pegged for the gene - he carried the more wolflike traits of the two Lockwood parents - but he’d been questioning how the man kept it so well under wraps in such a spotlight position. That, and he’d criticized him internally for not supporting his soon-to-change children. Now, that part made more sense. But…”The gene…is dormant in him? How could that be?” Robb couldn’t remember seeing anything like it. Except once. “Is it possible his body is immune to the infection? We have seen people undergo the bite with no change before. True, I’ve never seen the gene not pass down through a family, but it is possible I suppose…” He frowned. “I’m glad you two were there to support the Lockwood boy. We only met briefly and I’m not sure I made the most trustworthy impression…but hopefully he will come to rely on us.”
Ned just shook his head, he didn't know. Over a thousand years you did see some strange things, but he hadn't encountered a dormant wolf gene yet. His father would know, but his father was long dead, nothing remained but boned by now. And bones never did do much talking.Â
"The most important thing is that the boy has triggered, that he is alone and that he has no pack. He needs us - and it seems Jon has frightened the boy after their first meeting so I'd advise caution with him Robb." He smiled and gave him a pat on the pack, he believed that Robb would do perfectly fine with the new wolves in town, he and Jon probably would understand them far better than he, as long as Jon didn't keep going around knocking them all unconscious and chaining them up.
"The Lockwood boy mentioned another as well. I believe they may be more still in Mystic Falls and then there's the Lockwood girl, she needs to be prepared. We also need to find out which wolf attacked that Waldorf girl on Halloween."
The wolf has run away | Ned + Robb
Robb pressed his lips together gently, taking in his father’s words with the serious attitude and respect he always afforded in his presence. He knew how important it was to listen to his father - he was Alpha, yes, but more importantly - he had always been right. At least in matters of the supernatural. Robb still wasn’t so sure about matters of his personal life…but that was a long-troubled story.Â
“Indeed. It is…very different now.” Robb sighed gently, and paused before looking over at his father. “Everything is different. This place is even more dangerous than before. And…you mean the Lockwoods? Has one of them shifted already?”
Ned continued to walk in silence even after his son had finished speaking, there was something weighing heavy on the young wolf's mine, he was sure of it, but Ned was never one for delicacies. Instead he turned the conversation back to business as usual. "The eldest, Tyler. He shifted on Halloween night. Jon got him away before he hurt anyone but the boy is new and confused, we have to tread carefully so as not to break his trust." But Ned had dealt with new turned wolves many a time, that was not that troubled him though. "His father doesn't shift. The Lockwood's hold the Werewolf gene but yet the father does not shift. I have yet to understand why..."
Papa Wolf | Tyler and Ned
Just when Tyler thought things couldn’t get much worse, he found out that not only was he a werewolf but he was the kind of werewolf that died easily. While he was human, he was stronger than normal, he was better than he had been before. But all he was getting out of Ned Stark’s words was that as a wolf, he was weak. Weakness needed to be crushed. He looked at Ned, “How am I one if he’s not?” He asked, asking the question that everybody refused to answer, “It doesn’t make sense that for me this thing just… suddenly appears.” He bit his lip as Ned offered his family’s assistance, “If I let you help me… Is your son going to knock me out again or was that a one time thing?”
"I'm not sure." He would find this out though, perhaps there was an alpha within the Lockwood family, he could find them and find the boy a pack. The reason troubled Ned though, in all his years he had never known of one with wolf blood not to transform. Why did Richard Lockwood not shift when his son did? Had he found some remedy, some cure? No. That was impossible, Ned knew that. "I give you my word," he chuckled slightly. "I shall ensure that Jon is on his very best behavior."
The wolf has run away | Ned + Robb
“You mean and especially Jon.” Robb corrected jovially, half-rolling his eyes in a fond manner. “You know me, I’m more of a button-downs and jeans every day kind of guy-wolf.” He winked. His outfits were still more fashion-adventurous than his father’s, that was true, although it was hard to waiver when your item of choice was a classic suit. Even after all the years Ned had taken to them, seeing him go from wolf to well-tailored was still a bit odd.
Robb looked around. “Sure. It’s still a few miles to the car, we can use the time to talk. But honestly, I didn’t get up to that much.” He sighed and shrugged, turning towards the break in the trees that led to a more recognizable pathway. “It was sort of…a vacation. A no-adventures time, if you will. I trust you and Jon held down the fort here fine?”
Ned chuckled at the comment and nodded in agreement, "Jon certainly has benefited in the progression of the fashion industry." He fixed the tie in place around his neck and as he began to tie it he approached his eldest son. It was odd to compare how they were back then with now, and not just in looks. He rested his hand on Robb's shoulder when he reached him and gave him a warm smile, there was nothing he enjoyed more than spending his time with his family. A thousand years wouldn't have been so terrible if it could have just been them, but the world always had ways to ruin things. The elder he got, the harder it was not to curse all who weren't his family, but if he did he would be no better than those he hated.
"New wolves have shifted and more vampires have taken root in town. It's about time we took some action son, but we can discuss this another time." As he walked he put his hands in pockets, although Eddard Stark still could not make the action look casual. "We haven't been back in this place for a long time now..." How are yo doing? Do the memories trouble you? He thought of many questions he wanted to ask, but he left them all go unspoken.

The wolf has run away | Ned + Robb
Dirt, leaves, and rapidly darkening patches of blood dotted his skin, but Robb was unconcerned. He was even smiling as the shift faded and he returned to his human form. Nothing relaxed him quite like running with his family. In a pack he felt safe and bold. Indestructible. Which, he supposed, he sort of was always - but he never felt vulnerable as the wolf. Before finishing the shift back, he answered his father’s howl, already starting towards the sound. Ned wasn’t only a father to him, he was Alpha, and that meant Robb would be obedient and loyal no matter what.
He emerged through the trees as his father dressed himself, and bent to pick up the shirt he’d left. “I’m slightly jealous sometimes that you look so much better as a wolf, but then I remember the amount of clothing you ruin and I feel a little better,” Robb said in jest, pulling on the button-down. Sure, his wolf-form was some sort of weird hybrid of man and wolf while his father’s looked much more intimidating, but at least he got to keep his pants intact.
He smiled at Robb, it was warm and full of love. Throughout all the years his family became all he had left and with each passing day he grew to love them more and more - if that were even possible. "Luckily I'm not quite so concerned with fashion than you and Jon," he raised his eyebrows at his friendly jape. Even before they were cursed Jon had always been the "pretty boy", he was sure he lavished all new accessories and fashion ensembles that Ned didn't understand.Â
Once he'd finished tying his tie he walked towards Robb, patting him on the back he asked, "shall we head back then? And you can tell me all you got up to while you were away."
The wolf has run away | Ned + Robb
The sun was beginning to rise, his eyes could see the light breaking through the leaves in the trees, he could feel the prickle on his skin as the sun began to warm what the night had frozen and beneath his paws he could feel the earth coming to life. There was blood still in his fur from the deer he and Robb had killed earlier in the evening, but a wolf wasn't one to concern himself with such things, he even licked his lips again at the thought of the blood on his tongue. He pulled himself back, rose his head into the air and howled for his son, he waited for his response before padding to the bushes where he had hidden his clothes in preparation. The shift tattered any clothes he was wearing and he couldn't well walk back into town stark naked, he hand long since learnt the way around his though.
He pushed his head through the shrubbery to check and there they were, his suit pieces and tie all as neatly folded as he had left it. He lifted his head once more, gave a long howl before crouching close to the floor, he whined a little but soon the sound of cracking bones was all that could be heard. By the time Robb had joined him, he had already dressed in his pants and was pulling on his shirt.
