PTSD isn’t just flashbacks. while a lot of movies, books, games etc equate post traumatic stress disorder to having extremely vivid flashbacks in which one thinks the trauma is happening again, this is not the only symptom of PTSD, nor is it a requirement for having the disorder.

other symptoms of PTSD include

problems sleeping

nightmares 

hypervigilance (constantly checking surroundings for safety, looking for any possible threat)

being easily startled

being emotionally numb or not experiencing joy

seeing the world as a terrible place

memory loss 

trouble relating to others

physiological or strong emotional reactions to reminders of trauma 

intrusive thoughts about the trauma

flashbacks are not the be all and end all of PTSD. it’s a much more complex disorder than it’s portrayed in a lot of media, nor is it military exclusive. i hope this post can at least help educate some people beyond the incomplete and in some cases outright wrong information that a lot of people have.

When is her birthday / astrology sign?

so i thought this one over a lot today, actually. i saw the question while i was at work and it kinda got my mind boppin around and thinking so - thank you for that! now unless somehow by some grace of the universe, the d/uffer bro/thers come at us with an actual date of birth - i’ve came to my own conclusion that jane is a scorpio. 

scorpio traits : resourceful, brave, passionate, stubborn, ‘true friend’, distrusting, jealous, secretive. “scorpio-born are passionate and assertive people. they are determined and decisive, and will research until they find out the truth. scorpio is a great leader, always aware of the situation and also features prominently in resourcefulness. scorpio is a water sign and lives to experience and express emotions. [x]”

personally i just feel like it’s a sign that fits her well as she is a very resourceful person - she knows how to survive in even the most dire of situations, brave for facing all that she has with strength and resilience. she does have high emotions and can sometimes be considered stubborn in my opinion. i mean there’s different layers to it - of course i don’t think everyone is the full embodiment of their astrological sign there are many different factors that make up a person, of course. then there are people who may think that this astrological stuff is a bunch of bologna which is fine, whatever, bologna is pretty tasty. but i guess what i’m getting at is - i see a lot of these traits in her and that is what i’m sticking with. a lot of her personality and behaviours are also directly impacted by past trauma which is an entire different category that i could get into as well.
