So, Iqra really is just a normal girl...with telepathy, it triggered after the accident that killed her parents, she lives with her friend now, is a high school student who—if she interacts with your muse through their mind—probably did so completely by accident since she's tired and her mind just opened. She doesn't know her range since she could be sitting in Gotham and accidentally barge into Clark's mind. I'm not planning on making her a vigilante, at least not yet. Perhaps an informant later though. Uhh, that's it, go wild ig.

Basic DNIs. I'm a minor so piss off creeps, this goes without saying, but Iqra being muslim shouldn't make her a target. I am also muslim, so harmless questions are fine, but if you want to say something rude, don't say it at all. The block button is my right and I will use it.

Not my usual post for my fics, but I wanted to use my platform to talk about an important issue affecting me now that I have more followers. Currently, many data centers are trying to build in my community and in the surrounding areas. I won't name the region for privacy reasons, but it could force my family to move away from a farm that has been in our family for over 300 years now. Several companies for different businesses have tried to buy our land in the past, which would not only force us to move, but also negatively impact the environment here. Our environment is one of the few places that still has places left untouched by humans even now, and has several important native flora and fauna as part of our ecosystem.

My family works hard to protect and maintain wildlife, as well as our history. To see the home I grew up in destroyed would break me.

Not to mention, they're trying to buy out family farms, communities, and forested areas that are homes to wildlife. These companies try to take advantage of the poverty here by promising jobs and economic growth from data centers to people who are desperate for money. They also often assume we are uneducated and idiotic due to classist stereotypes.

These farms and homes may seem unimportant to most people, but many of these have been passed down from generation to generation and mean a great deal to families. To sell them would be a betrayal. Yet, many are left with no other options.

Data centers often ruin water supplies, create higher levels of pollution, and disrupt daily life for many communities.

PLEASE, whenever you see ways to support these communities and prevent the building of data centers, engage! Knowledge is power, so educate yourselves on the good and the bad of AI. Advocate for change and the enviroment.

Someone out there is being affected directly by these things, and I am one of them. Spread the word.

Clark had been on patrol when it happened, drifting above the skyline in that quiet stretch between sirens, the city spread out beneath him like a map of little lives. A late bus rumbled along the avenue. Someone’s TV blared through an open window. The usual background noise, familiar enough that he barely had to think about it. And then a voice cut straight through everything. Not through his ears. Through him.

Clark nearly stalled midair. For half a second his body forgot what it was doing, cape snapping as he caught himself, hovering in place over a dark rooftop. His brows knit, expression going sharp with confusion as he turned his head like the sound had a direction. It didn’t. It was just there, inside his skull, intimate as a thought he hadn’t made.

‘Ugh… what was that?’ he thought, reflexive and unsettled. His pulse ticked up. Not fear, exactly, more like the prickling awareness of a boundary being crossed.

A pause. Then the girl again, sheepish and mortified, like she’d realized she’d spoken out loud into the wrong room.

Clark exhaled slowly, forcing his shoulders to loosen. “Okay,” he murmured to the empty night, voice low and careful in case someone on a fire escape happened to look up and decide he’d finally lost it. He pressed two fingers to his temple on instinct, as if it would help him sort signal from noise.

‘Hi,’ he thought, tentative, because politeness was sometimes the best first step when the situation made no sense. ‘Uh… I heard that. In my head.’ His gaze swept the city anyway, habit more than logic. ‘And- did you say Gotham? How… I’m… not even sure how I’m hearing you at all.’ He hesitated, then added, ‘Can you… read my thoughts?’

Iqra had been in her room, half-dozing off from history homework. She'd noticed that she tended to accidentally reach out a lot more when she was tired.

Hm...maybe I should get more sleep. She thought to herself, not broadcasting that to the unsuspecting person though.

She was fully awake now, sitting up and exhaling deeply, because this was happening now.

Iqra rubbed at her eyes, leaning her elbows against her desk as she focused on the conversation fully, the rest of the world blurring into background noise as she concentrated on the connection.

Hi. The guy—she's assuming it's a guy, he sounds like a guy in his head, and she found that people's mental voices typically sounded how they wanted to sound—said hi. And he sounded hesitant, a bit wary, which was completely understandable considering the fact that she'd unintentionally barged into his life—more specifically his mind.

‘Uh… I heard that. In my head.’

It would've been funny was she not terrified that she was about to get chewed out as soon as he got over his shock. Because yes, he did. And it would have surprised her too, had she been on the receiving end of that broadcast—oh shoot, he's still talking. Focus, Iqra.

'...hi.' She echoed, before cringing at how nervous her inner voice sounds. She repeated it, a bit more confidently.

'Hi...yeah, yes...you did. I have—mistakenly—barged into your mind.'

Barged into? Really? You're making this worse on yourself. Sound less like a bad guy.

'Well...not barged in, see, I was tired so I didn't realise I transmitted my thoughts to your mental signal, and—'

And now you're rambling again. Idiot.

'Yes, Gotham, I'm in Gotham, and by your confusion, I'm assuming you're not in Gotham...Blüdhaven?'

Ah yes, reading people's thoughts, they were always nervous about that, and understandably so. Iqra wouldn't want someone poking around her mind either.

'I...can...read minds—but don't worry! I didn't read yours, it's a violation of privacy and I don't plan on breaching that barrier.'

She explained it quickly before the person on the other end freaked out.

The reblog chain is one of the things that makes Tumblr unlike anywhere else. All the notes on reblogs are attributed to the original post, no matter which branch people actually liked or reblogged. We want to keep encouraging conversations, and give contributors the recognition they deserve. 

Soon, you'll be able to like, reblog, or reply to any part of a reblog chain, and that note will go to that reblog's author. Each reblog will have its own counts, instead of one aggregated number from every version of the post. And yes, you’ll be able to like multiple posts in one chain.

If a reblog doesn't add anything, the love flows up to the last person in the chain who did. Your post doesn't lose notes just because people spread it quietly.

Past notes will stay on the original post — we're only changing what happens from here on out. Retroactively re-attributing all of them would be... a lot.

This is just the beginning. More changes are coming as we keep building this out – stay tuned!

Artists already struggle to find audiences, with this its essentially impossible. No artists means no content means this site will slowly die.

Please, don't do this. Please, don't ship this.
