“Sleep?” She scoffed, a smile on her lips. “Never heard of her.” Rory joked, fully aware of the consistent tired look on her face. She never suffered with nightmares of insomnia, or anything like that, Rory was just so disorganised that even her sleep was. She was consistent, at least, a solid four-and-a-half hours every night. Her body was used to it by now, but apparently the side-effects showed up on her face. “My brother keeps telling me I should wear makeup, you know, for the bags. But I think I’d actually rather die.” She shrugged.
Ash rolled her eyes rather dramatically. “Of course you haven’t. I’ll have to introduce the two of you someday. I think you’ll get along great.” Ash was a bit of a hypocrite though. She often spent her nights up far too late and struggled getting out of bed in the morning. “They aren’t even that noticeable unless you’re really close to you. Don’t worry about it and ignore what he says. You’re still beautiful.” While Ash loved her makeup she didn’t really wear it much while she was working because of the water.
Ash had grown up with parents that wanted best for their only child. She had been a bit sheltered and was shut down because she was a bit too much of a free thinker. She’d had Tate though. She had always gotten along with him. The huge difference between them was her wanting to help run their dads’ company and him not wanting to. That never got in the way of anything though. For the most part they were two peas in a pod. Being at a camp for the summer together would be an interesting experience. She wasn’t quite sure how that would pan out but was excited to find out. She had just finished her shift for the day and made her way over to first aid to check on a camper that had gone there earlier. “Hey, Tate,” she greeted her cousin. “I sent a camper here earlier for some skinned up knees. Took a hard fall. Do you know if he made it out okay?”
Ash had never gone to summer camp as a kid. She spent plenty of time in the pool or at the beach though. She’d always enjoyed being in the water and took lessons. Now she was the one giving them! After she was finished for the day she went to change then made her way to the mess hall, her hair still wet and sticking to her shoulders. She spotted Rory when she walked in and walked over, taking a seat across from her. “You look tired,” she stated. “Long day or did you not sleep well?”

Ash was born to two Japanese immigrants that moved to America shortly before she was born. Her father worked closely with her uncle developing a video game industry. The games were never marketed towards a specific gender so she grew up playing Pong and Magnavox. Unlike her cousin, Tate, she grew an interest in it and wanted to be apart of the company when she was old enough. Her father told her no, saying that women weren’t meant to run businesses. This upset her but she was raised in a strict and disciplined household so she didn’t fight him on it.
It was in middle school when Ash began taking an interest in alternative fashion and music. She’d always been a horror film fan and considered Mary Shelly an icon. Her parents disapproved of her fashion and music choices, telling her she wasn’t acting like a proper young lady. This only made Ash want to rebel and go against them more. She had stayed quiet and disciplined for far too long. She wasn’t going to let her parents make her into something she was not.
She began smoking at sixteen and hanging with a crowd that was into the same things as she was. She wasn’t necessarily a bad kid. She never got into any sort of legal trouble except for a ticket for loitering in a park after hours. Her parents have adjusted to her choices and do love her but that doesn’t mean they agree with it.
