Operation Goldilocks || Rapunzel
Rapunzel allowed herself to get sucked back into his story quickly. He was fun to listen to, he surely was a natural born entertainer. She couldn’t believe that she had just now met him! How many others had missed the opportunity to talk to him? So far his stories seemed fantastic! She hoped that they’d have this opportunity again! The transparent images that he drew out in the air had popped out inside her head, not exactly helping explain the story, but fun to figure out. She now saw what she’d been missing out on, stories and the excitement of it all! The way someone could make you laugh so easily just by saying a few words.Â
The story had turned a little dark in the sense that it wasn’t what she was expected. Of course all stories had to have some sort of climax, but in one that was supposed to be funny? Jack surely was a believable story teller. (Or perhaps she was just as gullible as Mother said she was?) When he laughed and shook it off, she could tell that it bugged him a little. She could understand though, at least she thought so. The story was supposed to be funny and it wasn’t supposed to be too dramatic. Her smile had faded once he began to get seriously, but grew once more when she saw that the comedy was being brought back in.
Rapunzel couldn’t help but laugh at this. “Swimming in a frozen pond?” The was completely insane, even for a silly story such as this! It surely had to be insane if it were to impress a moon troll. His skin was so pale though, and his eyes weren’t an average sort of blue. She probably shouldn’t read too much into this simple little story about white hair and moon trolls, but she kept forming different questions inside her head. The staff also crossed her mind. Where did he get it, and why is it so important? It was just a few of the many though. She certainly liked his story though! It was entertaining and made her happier than she had ever been! Was this truly what Mother had been trying to protect her from for all these years?
Jack allowed his grin to grow bigger when Rapunzel laughed. He liked it: it was like the sun, like bells: light in all the right places, glowing in the dark. It was like Jack was never ignored before; Rapunzel made him feel as if she was the only person in the world he needed to talk to. No one ever had this much time to listen to him; not even the other Guardians. They were always too busy to listen as much as this, even though they did listen. It was nice to have a friend outside of the Guardians--one that wasn't a child, even thought they were fun.Â
"Well, yeah!" Jack shouted, throwing his hands out just a bit as if that were the most ridiculous question in the world. Granted, originally, he hadn't swam in the pond on purpose, but he wasn't going to tell her about his sister. At least not yet. She didn't need a depressing story like that. She needed to laugh; Jack wanted to make her laugh. "I mean, what would you have done to get the white hair?"Â
(Admittedly, there was a lot more options that he could've done if the story had went like that instead of how it did, but Jack didn't have enough time to plan an elaborate story like that.)Â
He planted his feet on the ground now, elbows on his knees and hands making a bridge underneath his chin as if waiting. He was a little interested in Rapunzel's answer. It didn't even matter if she was an amazing storyteller or not; Jack just wanted to hear her talk. "Go on, Goldi." The Winter Spirit smiled, hoping it seemed encouraging rather than teasing.Â
