Hi hi. I’m D.

I was raised in a New Age cult around Portland Oregon. Surprise surprise.

Their beliefs, ‘the law of attraction’ and etc. were twisted into victim blaming to the extreme. 

If you were poor it was because your thoughts were not pure enough. If you were sick it was self inflicted. Mental illness was a sign your mind was weak. 

This logic was used to deny me medical care throughout my child hood, and blame me for my own depression. My family history of autism and bipolar disorder was kept secret from me. Only in this last year was I able to find medication to stabilize me. 

I am now 34 and in need of a wheelchair due to this medical neglect. This was completely avoidable.

The purpose of my blog is to journal my story, meet people with similar experiences and hopefully warn others of this spiritual trap.

Eventually I’m going to touch on my experience with lovebombing, spiritual appropriation and eugenics. If that even scratches the surface.

Yes, I do consider myself to be very spiritual, I like to think my ‘job’ is to share love, safety and connection. But dear fucking god I think I earned my right to vent ✌️😃

update: i finally cashed my final paycheck (thought to be only $40) and it was actually $240!!! I immediately bought my pregnant friend pizza and i am going on a mission tomorrow to get another lovely friend their own squishmallow. I love life right now.

Was reading about indigo children yesterday (researching for an essay on new age scams) and I realized that the idea was popularized in the late 1990s and early 2000s, which means the kids whose parents labeled them "indigo children" are probably in their 20s and 30s now. And I'm soooooo curious about how that affected them.

So: Do I have any followers whose parents labeled them an "indigo child" growing up? If so, I'd love to know how that label affected your identity and self-esteem growing up. And if you were diagnosed with some form of neurodivergence later.

I was born in ‘91 and I was briefly referred to as an indigo child by my dad and church members (this was a woowoo church). He later started calling me “little Buddha” instead because I often preferred the company of animals. Imagine an abused child not wanting to be around other human beings! 

Yeah that term felt especially gross. Otherwise I was an “old soul” who chose to be born into hardship, and it was my “job” to bring humanity into a new era. If I was ever upset at my dad I was told it was my fault for “choosing” him as my family. 

So basically I developed major depressive disorder at age 7. On top of that they were faith healers who believe all illness is self inflicted. No autism diagnosis for me! And recently found out what Avoidant Personality Disorder is. Just MIGHT be a direct result ✌️🫠

Only this last year was I able to touch on my spiritual side without feeling grossly violated. Now I just feel incredibly protective of children in spiritual circles. Nobody should be calling a 5yo a crystal child/rainbow child and especially not a starseed. Just let your kids be neurodivergent for fucks sake.
