Mystique stepped up to him without hesitance before answering his question. “Lucky guess?” She whispered, fingers undoing the rest of the buttons on his shirt. The entire time she did this, she kept her golden gaze locked onto his, and once she finished the last button, she ran her hands over her chest, nails lightly digging into his skin till they reached his neck. And then they reached behind his neck, bringing him into a slow, yet powerful kiss. One that made the air in her lunges push against her rib cage. Her body was now pushing up against his as she took her time with this kiss.
Richard closed the door behind him as she entered, and as he turned to face her, he watched as the back of her head, began to shift and change to a deep-red color, much to his enjoyment. Watching her remove the coat, he caught a glimpse of her firm, toned ass held in by a thread of white lace connected to a set of sexy lingerie, causing him to grow slightly underneath his pants. The grin returned to a very sultry smirk, locking eyes with the woman as she turned to face him.
“How’d you know I had a thing for lace?”
He teased, knowing every guy had a weakness for lace. Simply standing in view of her from a few feet away, he waited to see what was next.
“I was just in the area,” Mystique started, Marilyn’s voice slow and heavy, like she was just dying to talk to him. “And I’ve been feeling a little down.. Figured I’d stop by.” Her smile had grew even more upon seeing the attire he had chosen to answer the door in. How – lovely. Very lovely indeed; her hands had grabbed the collar of her fur coat and pulled it closer together, as if he had just let in a draft.
“I could use your company..”
Mystique played it with a pout, like she was desperate for his company and if she didn’t get it, she would just die of misery and loneliness. She had even let out a small chuckle, biting down lightly on the tip of her tongue, waiting for him to let her in.
Richard was a bit skeptical about this whole ‘appearance,’ and he had a hunch that perhaps this was either Mystique or someone sent by Mystique, for whatever reason. Regardless, it was quite obvious she sought company with him. His smirk turning into a grin, stepping out of the way of the doorway a bit, allowing her entrance.
“Come on in then...”
Taking the business card to give it a glance, she looked up to see him walking away, having just caught what he said. Watching him till he was all the way out of sight, not even trying to hide the look on her face that expressed how excited she was, she leaned back in her chair. Pulling out her phone immediately, the first thing she did was look up one of the famous fashion designers she had saved in her contacts.
A couple hours later, when the darkness swallowed up the city and the only light that led her way were from lamps or headlights, she found herself in a fur coat that was probably two sizes too big. It went down to her knee’s, and was completely white. Inside the coat, though, revealed Marilyn Monroe instead of Mystique. On her feet, up to just about her thigh’s, were white suede boots that were laced up nice and tight.
Showing up at the address, she gave the door two swift knocks, smiling like a giddy school girl.
Upon leaving the establishment, Nova returned to SHIELD and resumed his usual duties. The day went on when he finally got off and managed to head to the apartment SHIELD provided for him as a means of living while he was here on earth. The whole time, he couldn’t stop thinking about that mysterious woman he met during one of his errands.
As the night went on, he suddenly heard a knock at the door. Clad in a pair of shorts and a button-down shirt that revealed his chest through it slightly, he answered it. Upon opening the door, he found what appeared to be the great Marilyn Monroe standing in front of him, or at least a great impersonator. He figured he’d play along, a smirk tugging on his lips.
“Well...to whom do I owe this pleasure, Ms. Monroe?”
She was shocked at his words, to say the least. Mystique froze, slowly lifting her chin so her golden gaze could meet his. It was tempting, mostly because her life was too hectic for a relationship, and it was relieving to hear he didn’t want that. Her lips curled into a sheepish smile.
“Let me get your number in case I want to put one in,” Mystique teased, her smile turning into her biting down lightly on her bottom lip. He was tempting her and she was very aware she was falling for it.
He took a risk and for once, it turned out the way he wanted it to. A smirk tugged on his lips, more obvious than before, as he reached into his pocket to pull out one of his personal business cards. Taking a pen from her desk, he wrote down his address on the back as well before handing it to her.
“I look forward to hearing from you, Mystique...”
Another hint of a sultry tone escaped his lips before he turned and began to walk out. If anything, he was certain he’d hear from her soon.
“So friends with shitty benefits,” Mystique said, catching on very quickly by watching him closely. She had to question whether he was almost flirting with her – he wouldn’t. Not with an enigma like her. And then she pushed further, waiting to see if he would continue on. “Hopefully your next friend with benefits isn’t as dull and boring as SHIELD.”
At this point, Nova was feeling a bit risky. It was obvious at this point that she at least acknowledged his slight flirtation. Leaning in a bit, his eyes were locked with her own.
“Well...I’m currently taking applications...”
Sure, it was a bit on the blunt side of things, but at this rate, he was trying to at least get something out of this little delivery.
“So you’re like a booty call?”
The words came out of her mouth too quickly, like her humor couldn’t be suppressed by the fact he was a stranger. That was the one thing people always guessed wrong about her – her sense of humor was existent, and sh e was now enjoying herself. It was definitely less tense than before. and it was preferable to Mystique.
“Long term booty call, of course..”
“I suppose that’s one way of putting it. Although, I seem to recall my last booty call being a lot more enjoyable than delivering a manila folder to strangers.”
His words became a bit softer, adding a smirk to his final statement, continuing with the already existent sense of humor, now adding a hint of flirtation in the mix.
“And you’ve been SHIELD’s messenger for how long?” She asked, eyebrow cocked. With a codename like that, there had to be something more to him than just being a messenger. He sounded important ; and she wanted to find out what exactly he was about.
“A few years now. I’m more of like SHIELD’s friend-with-benefits. We help each other out.”
A smirk cracked along the corner of his lips as his eyes remained locked with her own. He could tell by the tone of her voice that she was becoming a little curious. It was certainly a mutual feeling however. With blue skin, amber eyes, and a codename like ‘Mystique,’ she certainly wasn’t your average woman sitting at the front desk.
She ignored the first word, and a smile dances onto her lips. She was interested to see who the new recruits were, since she believed more members will mean more people to interact with and to defend the earth. “Probably a group of six of more, they might be put in a new team, or placed in any of the already established teams. It is either the West Coast Avengers, or somewhere else..”
“Sounds like it’s gonna be a royal pain in the ass. SHIELD has had a lot going on lately, and with this constant intake of new recruits, it makes them more susceptible to corporate espionage. But I suppose that’s none of my business.”
His tone hinting at disapproval, sighing a bit before making his last statement. Proceeding down the hall, the two past by a set of guards before making their way into the training facility.
“Call me Mystique,” She said, her interest clearly focused on the man rather than her magazine ; it was a pile of printed shit, anyway. And she wanted to know those who she did business with.
Not entirely comfortable with the woman yet, he figured his real name was out of the question for the time being. Despite that, he did have some interest in this woman. Curious as to how she became what she is. It wasn’t something he could just ask about however.
“I’m Nova.”
Not many people can read minds like she can; to the uninformed and untrained, telepathy is a dangerous and chaotic thing to even attempt. When it backfires, which it can, spectacularly, both people can be left in irreversible and varying states of catatonic. She gave him a smile over her shoulder, as she headed down the hallway, hips tick-tocking back and forth with that signature sway — Emma had the kind of gait and body that could make Jesus think twice.
“You owe me dinner after all that, Mr. Rider. Pick me up at eight, and I’ll see about letting you make it up to me.”
As the two approached the end of the hallway, Richard stopped a moment upon hearing her little request. It definitely forced another chuckle from his throat, slightly confused as to how he got into this mess. Now he owed dinner to her, despite not even getting to the bottom of the situation. Regardless, he didn’t mind.
“I suppose I don’t have a choice.”
He joked, despite his obvious arousal with the gorgeous telepath.
“I’m the best, Mr. Rider. But that’s exactly my point. I can cobble together a story using what’s floating in your mind, but it’s not the whole picture. But I think I can help. Charles Xavier had a test that was eerily accurate in pinpointing people who were doing their best to cover up their lies, even with psychic interference and training. Tell your shadow bosses I’ll have it over to them tomorrow morning.” She turned on a heel to exit the room, pausing.
“And I look better in red.”
Following her out of the room, he was still in a state of disbelief. Of all the stuff he’d experienced during his time with the Nova Corps, he never had his mind read.
“I’ll be sure to inform Fury about this ‘test.’ We’ll ready a room for it and hopefully, we’ll be able to figure all this out with minimalistic consequences. And I’ll also note your comment about the color red.”
