I have far too many wips I'm afraid, so I'll go for this one from 'The Sharp Edge of Truth' this time
"The God of Murder's blood runs through my veins, Enver, do you remember? I'm far stronger and more resilient than you could imagine, and I am not your little pet to cuddle and take care of. Believe it or not, most of your fears about my health are totally unfounded. I would suggest that you stop worrying like that about something that should not concern you at all, and focus more on your own well-being instead. Maybe you're the one that should urgently see a cleric instead, given how tense you are. Time for me to go now, I'm afraid, but don't worry that much about me. I'll soon be back, alive and whole, if that's what truly concerns you. And please, make sure to send my regards to your cleric, will you?".
A few moments later she was already reaching for the door, and the temptation to use sheer force to prevent her from leaving had never been stronger.
I could not help but follow her, silently fighting the urge to lock the door before she could even reach for the handle.
Some mysterious instinct wanted me to try keeping her from walking through that door at any cost, as if never leaving that room ot my house could somehow protect her from any kind of possible harm, maybe even from my own fears, but before I could act upon such urge or my hands could even touch her, the familiar and cold sensation of a sharp blade against my throat made me freeze up in a strange mix of fear, surprise and confusion.
Her soft, delighted giggle as my posture instinctively stiffened made some darkly possessive feeling start to form in some remote corner of my mind, but before I could even realize it was happening, she had already moved the dagger away from my throat, tracing a thin line from the base of my neck to my breastbone.
And once there, the jade green tip of Stillmaker pierced my skin with deliberate precision, spilling a single drop of blood.
A strange irony, I found myself thinking, that the same blade I had once gifted her, skillfully crafted with the only purpose of bringing us closer, had suddenly become nothing more than a deadly tool she was now threatening to use against me, to keep me away from her.
The gentlest of tags (feed me more!) for @tynithia @arlynx (more Ophelia pwease) @dynamicducks @faeriiefire @bladesingerlily @archduchessgortash @defira85 @unovafarm and anyone who has a wip to share on this fine Wednesday
