Please bear in mind that the fics in this series were written and posted pre-release. So certain things may have unfolded differently or be out of character once the game released in full. I was too excited and impatient to resist posting about Taliesin.

Pulled from Caveat's latest chapter (found here) where things aren't as simple as they appear and Isotta has a superpower
"That's not a wyvern."
"Of course not. That's a sign."
"What do you know about wyverns?" she blurted, grasping the memory with both hands and wielding it.
Erudito paused in its machinations, its free hand frozen amidst a spell as it narrowed its eyes in disdain.
Something above—a shadow or perhaps a figment of her delusional imagination—moved, but she dared not glance for confirmation. A drake does not shy away from a wyvern, she reminded herself. Even though, thinking upon it—that saying never made any sense. Wyverns were notorious for their viciousness, killing the likes of dragons if it meant protecting their territory and young. Why would a drake be stupid enough not to back down when it was outmatched?
"You seem to know much about the world since you used to be some kind of Knowledge spirit, yes? Perhaps one of the legendary archives of Elvhenan themselves?"
For once, she thanked the Maker for her gift to needlessly ramble at the drop of a hat. Many of the other apprentices in the labs tended to make a face and stray out of hearing range once her interests sank its claws into her. How Viago tolerated it as he handed her vials to clean or gave her new tasks, she never quite grasped.
"It explains why you must have been such an important asset to the ancient magisters. Why they sought you out in the first place because you knew so much. That must mean you know if wyverns fly or not, right? Or breathe fire?"
"Despite their similar appearances to their draconic cousins," Isotta's skin crawled as Erudito now spoke in the haughty voice of an Orlesian woman. "They do not fly. Their wings simply do not have the capability. Rather, they glide and prefer stealth in their hunting methods than the direct approach dragons tend to utilize while on land. Often preferring to bite and then wait for their prey to succumb to their potent venom."
It continued rambling, then. Going into the great details that Isotta already knew. Funny, she couldn’t help but dwell on sadly. How they were two sides of the same coin. And as the shadow in the dark above shifted again into position, something in her chest settled, and it took all of Isotta's power not to puff a snort.
"Sure,” she cut in when a slight reprieve presented itself. “But did you know they also like coffee?"
The demon faltered, the power emanating from its staff dimming. "…What?"

Rook also thinks they're expendable btw. They're reckless and they throw themsleves into danger because they're not the main event in their eyes. Varric told them to take care of the team. They're his second in command. They'll get the team into position to end the gods- whatever it takes. It's why they jump into being bait at Weisshaupt. It's why they throw themsleves into danger at every oppertunity. It's why they never complain and don't mind making the hard decisions. It's because they're expendable, unlike the people they've recruited.
