question heat ring concept
the shit i do when i’m manic and should be sleeping
when i was a teen i used to doodle two question marks facing each other so they’d make a heart shape and i called it a question heart. i drew it on everything and years later i found out that little question heart was really similar to a love point punctuation mark. over the years its become a symbol very near and dear to my heart.
it has always felt like a perfect representation of falling in love. it’s made out of two question marks. love starts with uncertainty. do they like me? what does this mean? where is this going? is this a fling or something more? two separate unknowns, two separate lives, and then somehow when they meet they form a heart.
love forms in spite of all the unknown.
i’ve been playing around with color choices, trying to figure out what i like, and i think i am leaning towards a black heart with the question heart being in a deep red. red enamel, and black patina(or black enamel). i feel like a full red enamel heart might look a little gaudy, but that’s kinda a vibe in itself. if i was a wealthy bitch, it would be set with garnets, so many garnets.
red representing passion, and love, with black representing all the unknown.
i want the top to be a heart shaped signet with the love point sunk in, and i’ve playing with a super simple detail on the sides of the band. i was thinking to either leave it blank, or four question marks ‘falling’ or, one big question mark, but i’m leaning towards the four ‘falling’ question marks on each side.
my CAD skills are shit, so i’m probably definitely going to pay someone to do the CAD.
either way the goal is to have it 3D printed in sterling silver and finish it with enamel/patina.
i have reached out to LightbringerDesigns on Etsy who i’ve worked with in the past for previous rings i’ve designed, and i’ll have to see what he thinks.
