hello, pals ! our burning witch 2025 was chosen by spinning wheel tonight ( grace moody is getting the honor of being burned at this years stake ) and aside from that, i'm just working on moving us away from the ren faire and into a possible new era of noxtms ! the members are currently voting on whether to implement some more permanent channels for writing over on our side server discord, which may or may not impact the main, moving forward - the dash will still be a hub, since i prefer the tumblr set up for pretty much everything, but i might private our follow list as with a more permanent discord set up, it really won't be an accurate portrayal of our rp ! other than those pieces of news i am just trying to get through a rough couple of weeks, but as always, i'm hanging about for a while if anyone not already in here needs anything urgently !

WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE :
the all wix cadbury renaissance faire is run from the ruins of cadbury castle, somerset, over a week of the ministry of magic's choosing ( usually the height of summer ). they always get the final say on dates because of the mountain of work required to ensure it runs both smoothly and without a breach of the statute of wixen secrecy. the departments of magical games & sports, law enforcement and transportation are forced to work together in the leadup to cover an area within a ten mile radius with protective charms and muggle repellents, as well as to make sure that everyone travelling in by magical means ( broomstick, apparition and portkey preferred, in those orders ) is doing so safely. the faire isn't quite as big as qualifying quidditch games and doesn't tend to draw a huge crowd from overseas, but it does have its regulars, and every year, a huge amount of newcombers are drawn by intense promotion across radio and newspapers.
set in the 12th century, it takes place on the very land where the 'mythical' ( to muggles, deeply real to wix ) land of camelot once lay, with the big selling point of this faire being the celebration of the famous figures that many young wix learn about at home before making it to hogwarts. for one week, the ruins of the old castle are transformed into a sea of colorful tents, stalls and stages, with guests getting the once in a blue moon chance to live the way that those historical figures - merlin, morgan, nimueh - once did. while it isn't the most accurate of events ( especially now a newer generation have started to attend, bringing with them new interpretations of a classic theme ), there's enough going on that most forgive it.
the shops and stalls sell well made clothes for those who don't have costumes at the back of their wardrobe, jewelry to accessorise, muggle style weapons to fit the theme and other handmade goods ( soaps, candles, ceramics, potions ), and the wandering actors must stay in character throughout. the food is always of the highest quality, including meat pies, turkey legs and mead, and a huge group feast is held at the centre of the ruins every night, after the sun goes down. there are comedy skits, acrobatics, wandering musicians, fortune tellers, tavern crawls, jousting competitions, quests and just about everything else you can think of - including the week long opportunity to nominate witches who will each stand trial at the end of the event, morbidly competing for the high honor of being the one who gets mocked burned at the stake. you mightn't take your children to the burning witch trials, but the faire promises something for everyone of all ages, if you know where to look !
OUT OF CHARACTER:
the cadbury renaissance faire returns in time for summer ! this is one of my favorite nox canon settings, and the witch trial subplot that we tried out last year and will be doing again, now, is one of my favorite things that we managed to find a place for ! the honor of being the burning witch is something that last years winner, marietta edgecombe, didn't exactly feel - but hopefully the person the wheel chooses this year will feel a little differently. the trial will close out the event, and will once again be as interactive as possible with nominations being done ic, through the thread on the main discord. any character who gets multiple nominations will have their name put twice into the wheel i spin at the end, to give them the edge that multiple nominations would give but even out the odds a little for everyone else. costumes aren't mandatory to enter the faire, but a willingness to get involved and immersed is !
this event begins with the posting of this message and will end in two weeks time, on the 7th of july, 2025 !
no character is required to attend, of course, especially if you consider this to be something that they'd be disinterested in, but you're encouraged to involve yourself as much as possible !
you can feel free to post any characters outfits that you'd like to post in the section that i've made on the main discord server, and nominate characters ( ic ) for the witch trials ! this will be a dash and discord event, but you aren't required to pause any of your current on dash threads as long as you make sure to appropriately tag everything !
