It wouldn’t be lying if she did omit the truth, now was it? The truth burned the red head’s throat. After all, she was supposed to be dead. She was supposed to have passed away the day the third years graduated. Why was it so hard to come face to face with one of her one and only old friend?

She almost wanted to reveal the truth. Explain how she came to be amongst humans once again. Nozomi being a shrine maiden and the more spiritual inclined of µ’s could understand. But would she truly understand that a God actually took her in?

✧ ❝ Oh..., o-of course, ❞ Nozomi looked at her feet, an uncharacteristic hesitation clouding her, a shyness she only exhibited now once in a blue moon creeping over her nervous heart.

Akane. No matter how many times she rolled the name over and over in her mind, it felt wrong to associate it with the girl before her. She had known Maki well – she had once seen her every day, heard her voice perhaps even more. Nozomi had even helped Maki out of her shell towards the beginning of their journey as µ’s. They were memories she would treasure until she, too, passed, and even after.

❝ I’m sorry, ❞ she bent in an apologetic bow, her eyes downcast and beginning to water. As she usually did when humbled, she began to unwittingly slip into the standard Japanese dialect, ❝ You... look a lot like a friend I once had. You even sound like her. ❞
