I have now seen have a bag of plastic bags attributed to growing up in a black household, a Latino household, an immigrant household, an Appalachian household and a “white trash” household. I think it’s time to just admit that we all have a plastic bag bag
and a canvas tote filled with canvas totes.

just thinking out loud i havent made up my mind on this but you know how the promise of social media was democratizing ideas?
there had previously been gatekeepers who owned the means of communication (first it was those who were literate, then those who owned printing press, then those who owned media platforms) and the theory was that with social media, anyone with a good or creative idea would organically bubble to the top. whatever meritocracy existed then got strangled by the algorithm which could be manipulated through power or money. and the algo didnt incentivize GOOD work it incentivized divisive work - things that triggered people and made them watch more, comment more, hate more.
OK so again this isnt a fully thought-out thing, but the promise of AI is to give anyone with an idea a 30-person production team to make a video. and i literally just saw the most awful AI video on LinkedIn. just zero aesthetics, zero taste. and im like.... maybe your finance director shouldn't have access to a 30-person production team? maybe some voices need to be silenced? the people that have the money to tokenmaxx maybe shouldn't be our arbiters of taste? i actually didnt hate the video as much as i hated seeing comments like "omg this is so great" like, its actually not. i'm concerned about the people we're giving the power to define our cultural aesthetics.

"When Daniel was doing things with Louis, there was a simpatico thing. That's not happening with Lestat. Lestat is the brat, and Daniel is actually kind of a brat, too. They get on each other's nerves a lot, so that's a big, fun part of it."
Daniel and Lestat in season 3 of iwtv
One take. One vampire. Wonderful. The Vampire Lestat debuts June 7 exclusively on AMC and AMC+
the way he says "iTs bOtLLeD" i could write a thesis on it. there's a subtle distain, and humor, and cynicism that is so purely Lestat and it drives me crazy that very few people will pick up on the genius of it.
