Thedosian Calendar: Quick Reference Post
Posting mostly for my own benefit, and because I just spent several hours of my life failing at basic math in trying to align the calendar dates with our own. Unless I clearly state that I made something up/its personal headcanon, info comes from The World of Thedas vol. 1 or the wiki. Since this post is actually getting some attention, I’d better clarify: the aligning of dates with Thedas months was done by me, complete headcanon, same with the bonus brief rambling at the end. The snippets of lore in the calendar overview, the names of months, dates of Blights, lore snippets in the month list, and the holiday names - canon info drawn from either the Wiki or the World of Thedas book.
Contains:
Quick overview of (canon) calendars
List of the Ages (and Blights)
Months, in order, with Tevene and “low” names
Annums/holidays
Date alignment with our own calendar
Bonus brief rambling at the very end from me with ideas for in-world origins of the low/common month names.

I did a thing. Have thing, friends. That grid is based off of the bar scale in the corner of the map, drawn using 1px lines. Map is from the RPG Guide (Set 2). This has been downsized by half, if you want it at its original size, as grabbed from the PDF, here’s an imgur link to it.
A few stats possibly of note: the side of each square equals 70 miles, the total area of each square is 4,900 miles square or 12,691 square kilometres.
Ignoring the partial squares on the left and top, the total area of the entire map is about 1,915,900 miles square / 4,962,151.1730 square km. Some hasty counting and subtracting of the area of pure or mostly pure water tiles gives a (very rough!) land area total for Thedas of 1,533,700 miles square. (Converting to km2 gives 3,972,265 square km but because 70 miles equals 112.654 km, the actual km2 would be little bit smaller. Like, by maybe 30km2 or so.)
And if you’re curious like me as to how this lines up with countries IRL - comparing the total area of the Thedas map to total areas of countries as listed on Wikipedia puts this map between Australia and India in size. Australia is (quite a bit) larger at total area of 2,969,907 mi2 / 7,692,024 km2, while India is smaller at 1,222,558 mi2 / 3,166,414 km2.
Rough land area total compared to RL countries total land area is in the same place - Australia is 2,947,336 mi2 and India is 1,105,805 mi2. So in a pinch, I’d say that if you want to look at a real country to compare to Thedas, India would be your best bet.
