D.W x Soc!Reader
Summary: At the drive in, a Soc meets Dallas Winston and discovers the real boy behind his reckless charm creating an unexpected connection.
this is my first fiction so it might be bad and might not be movie or book accurate Dallas. And not proof read so I might add a lot of punctuation mark like commas or periods so I'm sorry about that!
Dallas Winston x Fem! Reader
Drive-in Sparks
The summer air hung heavy, sticky with the smell of popcorn, and a faint tang of gasoline from the old cars parked across the lot. You leaned back in your seat, clutching your bag like a life line trying to convince yourself you weren't nervous. Your friends had disappeared to the concession stand, leaving you alone in the shadows of the drive in. And that's when you noticed him.
Dallas Winston. Leaning against his car like he owned the night, cigarette between his fingers, eyes scanning the crowd with that infuriating smirk. He wasn't just a Greaser, he was The Greaser, the kind that other Greasers fear, a thug, a delinquent hood that goes in and out of the cooler. The kind everyone whispered about, the kind that makes your stomach twist and your heartbeat faster even when you tell yourself you weren't interested.
Then, impossibly, his gaze found yours. For a moment, the chaos of the drive-in vanished. The smell of popcorn, the movie that hadnât even started yet, and the people all faded from your mind and sight, leaving you utterly focused on Dallas Winston. He gave you that lazy, crooked smirk.
"Hey," he called, voice low and rough, the kind that made people listen whether they wanted to or not. "You're sittin' all alone. Don't get eaten by the popcorn or somethin'."
You swallowed and forced a laugh. "I'm okay.." Your voice sounded too quiet, too unsure, even to yourself.
He pushed off his car, walking toward you with that slow, dangerous swagger. "Yeah? You look like you could use a friend..or maybe someone to watch your back. Whichever you're into."
Your heart was hammering. Socs rules were clear, stay away from the Greasers, don't talk to them, don't glance at their way..but you couldn't look away. "I..dont usually hang out with Greasers," you admitted, biting your lip.
Dally's grin widened. "Good. I like it when people don't play by the rules. Makes life more interesting."
He leaned casually against your car, eyes gleaming. "Names Dallas. And you are?"
"Y/n," you murmured
"Y/n huh? Nice name for someone who looks like they'd throw a fit if their shoes get scuffed..Soc?"
You nodded reluctantly, "yeah..you can tell?"
He laughed, sharp and knowing. "Yeah. But you got that look...like you don't really belong there, huh? Don't worry" he paused for a second "I get it not everyone fits the boxes society puts us in."
"I don't really..fit in with my group," You admitted softly. "I love them but.. they're all about appearances and parties. I don't.. I don't always feel like I belong there either."
Dallas grin softened. "Figures. You got more guts than most of 'em. Most Socs are all flash and no backbone. But hey..you, you're different."
Your cheeks warmed up "Different's not always a good thing you know?"
"Depends on who you ask." He said quietly eyes locking in on yours. "But I like different. Makes life interesting"
The movie started, but you barely noticed the flickering images. Your attention kept drifting to Dallas, who had returned to his group but still managed to glance your way every few minutes. Your a Soc, he was a Greaser. And yet here you were, drawn into the orbit of a boy who lived entirely by his own rules.
After a while, he appeared at your side again, leaning against your car with that teasing smirk. "So...you're really gonna sit there all night like a scared little Soc, or are you gonna talk to me?"
"I'm not..scared," you said, though your stomach twisted.
"Not scared, huh?" He raised an eyebrow. "Cause you look like you're about to bolt if someone sneezes too loud"
"I just don't usually..hang out with Greasers.." you admitted, feeling more honest as you had intended.
Dallas chuckled softly "figures. But you're not like other Socs. I can tell. You got a spark, something that doesn't fit with all their polished perfection"
"I just like knowing people for who they really are.. Not what they're supposed to be you know?"
"Yeah I get it..me too," he murmured, almost quietly, before the grin returned. "You know most people think I don't give a damn about anyone. That I'm just trouble walking. But it ain't true I care, I just don't know how to show it right.."
"You don't have to show it to everyone" you said softly "you just.. gotta be real with the people who matters to you. And I think..I get it.."
For a fleeting second, his dangerous untouchable facade softened. "You..you're not like other Socs, you see thru the crap almost like you get people, and that's rare."
Your chest tightens "I'm afraid to see the real you, Dallas"
He laughed, a low and easy sound that makes your chest flutter. "Yeah.. I can tell. Reckless Soc."
The he did something impulsive. He nudged you gently, a teasing spark in his eyes. "Wanna get outta here? See the real night not the movie, not the popcorn or crowd, but the streets?"
Your pulse raised. "Okay..maybe"
You followed him weaving thru the parked cars, the hum of the drive in fading behind you. He lit another cigarette and leaned casually against a street light.
"Not much to see tonight," he said with a shrug "Just empty streets, a couple of old buildings and the stars.. hey but it's honest. No pretenses."
You nodded, suddenly aware on how real he felt, the contrast between the Greaser world and the polished Soc life. "It's kinda freeing"
"Yeah." He said "sometimes life's easier with fewer rules, people expect me to be this..bad boy. If they saw the real me, they'd freak"
"You're not just 'bad' Dallas." You said softly "you're more complex..than anyone sees"
His eyes flicked to yours, sharp and searching. "And you? You're not just some perfect little Soc. You've got fire in you, curiously. Hell, maybe even bravery. I can see it."
You smiled, heart hammering. "Maybe I like seeing life that way. The messy, real side of things."
He grinned the dangerous spark returning. "Good. I like different. Keeps life interesting huh reckless Soc?"
You laughed softly leaning against the wall of a building. "Maybe I like being dangerous."
He stepped closer, eyes darkening with something that felt almost protective. âYeah⊠I can tell, and I like you. More than I probably should.â
Your chest tighten. "âŠI like you too, Dallas.."
For a long moment you were silent, the world, the titles of Socs and Greasers, the rules, faded. There was just you and him, the night stretching endlessly around you.
"I shouldn't...shouldn't be showing you this..." he said finally, voice low. "Most people wouldn't get it. They'd see the though act and think that's all there is. But you, you're different, you see the real me"
"You're not as untouchable as you act.." you said gently and with a pause in your tone, "you're...you're just human"
His smirk softens, a rare fleeting vulnerability in his eyes, "yeah..maybe I am.." You both laughed quietly, letting the silence settle comfortably. The stars glimmers above, the distance him of the drive in fading. For the first time, Dallas Winston wasn't a symbol of danger or rebellion, he was just a boy, who's messy and real and alive.
Eventually, he nudged you gently. "You should probably get back before your friends starts wondering where you went"
You hesitated, reluctant to leave the night behind. "Will..I will I see you again?"
He shrugged casually, his cocky smirk returning, "depends. You brave enough to stick around princess? Life's not safe with me. But if you are then..yeah you'll see me"
You smiled, feeling something unfamiliar and thrilling tug at your chest. "I think I might stick around.."
Dallas winked, that dangerous teasing grin that made your heart race, "Good. Reckless soc I like that."
As you walked back to your car where your friends are, Dallas looked at you. The hum of the drive in filling the air again, you felt alive in a way you hadn't before. The night had changed something in you, even shifted the lines between Socs and Greasers with danger and excitement, curiosity and bravery.
And somewhere in the dark, Dallas Winston had felt it too
The night was far from over.
I don't really know if this all makes sense since I wrote this really tired. If it doesn't make sense I'm so sorry and English isn't my first language đ so I'll try to improve next time !!
