Class assignments helping me
During Friday’s class we all split into groups and were assigned different social media networks to analyze. We had to discuss with each other what it would mean to “win” on social media sites such as tinder and twitter. This class was very helpful with producing ideas for my final paper because it allowed me to look deeper into these social media sites. My final paper will focus on the negatives of social media and this class assignment allowed me to compare different sites and see how they influence behavior. For example my group was assigned yik yak and some points we made were that since every user is anonymous, people wont filter what they have to say. Instead you get a truthful image and idea of what people around you are thinking.
Analysis of the source
I found one source online titled “The effects of Social Media on teenagers” by Chris Cosby and it helps me focus on the harm it causes and specifically oon the grades. The article goes in depth and shows different statistics on how social media effects teens in high school college and even younger kids in middle school, it shows that teens and younger adults in college tend to have lower grades when they use social media more two times a day. This is one the reasons I am using this article. It emphasizes on the bad social media causes and I can utilize it when making my arguments.
Library
My experience walking into the library was different, it was somewhere i barely visited other then to print something out. It was really quiet and uncomfortable, especially if you’re not doing any work. I researched a few articles for my research essay which included “Influence of social media on teens” by Suren Rammasubu and another one titled”Is too much social media bad for you “ by Talal-khatib. I was searching up radon articles to find some example of the main points I was trying to focus on.
Poor image article
This article “In defense of a poor image” by Hito Steyerl was basically describing the different aspect of bad images or images of “poor” quality. Some characteristics from the article were low resolution and compressed images. A quote that was interest from this article was that a bad image “mocks everything technology promises” this was interesting because technology has advanced so people had a high expectation when it comes to images.

How successful was I?
When writing the reflection i found myself focusing on a little too much on comparing my curating process to those of professionals. I forgot to elaborate on my actual process and the specifics such as search terms and why I did my curation. Overall I believe I was successful simply because I was able to mention my process and compare it to a professional version.

What will this tumblr be about?
The purpose of this page and the post will be to dive deep into the effects of being online for an excessive amount of time have on people. How does this influence there productivity and also how does being online change them as individuals. My reasons behind this is because of interest. I am part of the first generation to grow up on computers and its interesting to see how we were once very active as kids and always outside and now we cant leave our homes with out having some form of connection with the online world. So I plan to research this topic to see how being online wasting time has affected us as people.
