Sector V´s emotions according to Inside Out
Have you noticed in Inside Out that some people have different emotions leading their heads? For example, Riley has Joy, her mother has Sadness and her father has Anger.
That got me thinking about what leading emotion would be on each Sector V member (´cause I relate everything to KND) And here´s my headcannon:
I´m not saying Abby is depressed. Remember Riley´s mom had the same leading emotion and she was fine. Sadness is the wisest emotion. If it is in balance, it makes you analyze a problem with complete focus. It is calm, reasonable, it´s not afraid to make a pause here and there to understand and act. It is patient, but also knows how to organize the other emotions and discover what do you need the most.
This is a little obvious. His main characteristic is bravery (which is a variation from anger). He´s impulsive and more emotional than logical. Another thing is that he has passion, when he´s into something, he gives EVERYTHING. He wants to prove himself to be capable and he´s concered about how fair it is a situation. Anger is an emotion that (in balance) is really positive. It doens´t give up and has the power to give you a strenght no other emotion has.
This was the first one I thought about for a reason: Kuki is the mere incarnation of Joy! She´s hyperactive, she´s curious, she´s happy, she loves, she´s positive, she´s energetic, she has passion, she is hope, and there´s just this light in her heart that never stops glowing. A thing I like about Kuki is that her mind has more freedom than the rest of her friends. She lets the other emotions take over as easy as joy. For example, when she´s angry SHE IS ANGRY, and when she´s sad, she lets the emotion the complete room. So her emotions work in a perfect balance. She is free and there´s not specific leader, everyone is working as a team, even when they have to combine to create a more complex emotion, they are totally fine. But even if that´s true, Joy is the one in the console MOST of the time. She´s the workaholic here, and it shows.
No, no, no, don´t take me wrong! Numbuh 2 is brave! He´s as brave as anyone in the team and you know it! Also, fear is not the oposite of bravery, it actually reinforces it. The reason why he´s Fear is that he´s cautious (as the great scientific and inestigator he is). Fear is a really mental and logical emotion if (as anger) it´s controlled. When he sees danger, he reacts faster than anyone else. And it can also be a great leader: one that takes safety first and thinks very well before doing another step. When something´s wrong, Numbuh 2 look for clues, fisical paths (not as numbuh 5 who looks for mental paths) and the reason? he goes for the certain tangible answer (to be sure). Numbuh 2 is an inventor, he loves knowledge and because he´s curious, you can see this emotion is in complete balance with the rest of them (Joy, Disgust, Anger, Sadness). Becasuse as all the other emotions, he can´t work for his own.
Yep, you knew it was the only one left. I was about to put him with Anger b/c of the passion, but something seemed off. He is more calmed. And some aspects he was more leaned towards Disgust than Anger. The movie described the emotion as the one that keeps you from “being poisoned”. Disgust helps to judge. It balances with Joy to keep what you should keep and leave what´s useless. It´s an important emotion for a leader. But to be a good leader, you need a complete equilibrium between all of your emotions: you have to let yourself being sad to understand the problem, but also have the anger to be strong and stand up, using Fear to calculate the danger, but at the same time maintain yourself and your team positive with Joy; encouraging them to be brave (a combination between Joy and Anger). And I see all this four emotions (Sadness, Anger, Fear and Joy) in the same line with Nigel. He´s in balance, as the leader he should be. But the one that´s higher than the rest is Disgust. Just think about it, he doesn´t trust ANYONE (aside from his team). He´s always thinking that everything is poisonous and the clearest one is his opinion about Adults and Teens. Just imagine his voice saying “teenagers” you can feel the disgist. That emotion is (still on balance) but stronger that the other ones. Again, Disgust is a really good emotion that (as Fear) is logical and helps you being a good judge, so it can be a great emotion to be leading a mind, specially if you work perfectly fine with the other ones.
