--- “...how dare you?” he couldn’t believe the nerve of this kid. He thinks because he has a laboratory he can push Nigel around like some kind of hired help? He’d like to slap those dorky glasses right off the little jerk’s face and let him know that there are plenty more scientists where he came from. However, he was a professional. So he resolved to keep it at just a tongue-lashing. “Look, Dexter,” he began through clenched teeth. “While you may be a genius,” --and he tried not to inject too much of a scathing tone into that word--“the Kids Next Door has no shortage of people with just as much technological skill. I’m here because you called for a field operative’s help, but if you don’t think I have anything worthwhile to contribute to your problem, I can just as easily go home and find some egghead from our science labs to deal with you.” Honestly, he was getting too old for these house calls, anyway. Dexter didn’t even look like he was in danger. It was like he just wanted a highly trained operative in his house so he could give them a headache.

Points of conflict: Appropriates hula and does a terrible job, is generally obnoxious, his “hakuna matata” philosophy is an unacceptably apathetic worldview considering the massively exploitative monarchist system in which he livesPoints of sympathy: Is not actively oppressing anyone, knows how to pull off a very successful and admittedly catchy musical number, is literally a wild animal and therefore likely more trouble than a fight is worthThe verdict: Nigel would not fight him. Frustration was quick to take over the Powerpuff’s face when feeling a tap on the shoulder. Arms crossed as the child turned around, raising one eyebrow questioningly. “Do I LOOK like anyone else??” The child snipped, the annoyance clear in her his voice. As small as he was, he wasted little time flying (or rather, floating) up to easily get in his face.
Buttercup’s really only taking out frustrations on the stranger - the store didn’t have the snacks he or his sisters wanted. “There’s only one’a me anyway,” he hesitated, “Except those weirdo’s that keep dressin’ up as me… But I’m the only Buttercup in town!”
“W-well, of course--I mean. No, I definitely thought it was you--er, knew it was you.” How embarrassing. He didn’t want to sound too sure of himself for fear of being wrong, but it looks like his lack of confidence in the first place already set him up for a decidedly uncool first impression.
“I was just...surprised to see you around here. I, uh. Is there, by any chance...” A monster around here? Some kind of potentially globe-threatening crisis? Some cool Powerpuff Girls limited edition trading card that you might be able to put into my possession?
“...is there any way I can help you? Get around the area, if you're new here? Or perhaps find something you’re looking for--I’m not sure if you’re heard of the Kids Next Door, but if you’re concerned about public safety we normally have that sort of information on hand.”

Kirby seemingly hadn’t realized what he had inhaled. He waddled around the GameBoy, squeaking as he picked it up with those nubs of his. This was that ‘old school’ stuff, right? He flicked it on, causing the familiar beep to sound out. He flicked it on and off, repeating the noise until the other spoke up. He tilts his head, shutting the GameBoy off and setting it down.
“Mn?” What DID he want, exactly? …Other than food, of course. But he always wanted food, so he didn’t think that counted. “Nothing in particular, poy. I just like visiting other planets. Did I startle you? Sorry.”
Nigel slowly began to circle the pink blob, studying it from every angle as if to search for some hidden zipper in a cheap party costume. As far as he could tell, though, it really was a bona fide living organism. At least as far as appearances were concerned.
Without thinking, he gingerly extended one of his hands toward’s Kirby’s body, brow creased.
“So you’re...an alien?”
He wanted to touch it. That was the only way to be sure it was there. But this kind of seemed like the type of situation where, if he did touch it...something might explode. He wasn't quite ready to take that risk, just yet. Better to wait until it answered him.
