1. A routine that really works
Establish a daily routine that motivates you, that really works for you. You don't need to copy anyone else's routine, nor does your daily morning routine need to have lots of steps to follow.
Even a small change is a big step. What would you like to implement? Perhaps getting up earlier or going for a short walk every day—that's already something important.
When we start on the journey of personal growth, we can become very demanding of our habits, and if that works for you at first, that's fine, but over time I've come to understand that it's okay not to always follow the same habits. They can be replaced by new ones or other things that aren't considered “productive” but make you feel better.
For example, there was a time in my life when I needed to listen to a lot of podcasts on personal growth and spirituality. I learned a lot and I'm grateful for that, but for the past few years I've been much more interested in listening to music, and thanks to that, it has led to very positive things in my life. Often, immersing myself in something related to music has helped me much more than a self-help podcast.
So, stop feeling bad about not doing what you should be doing in terms of personal growth. Because beyond those guidelines, there are little things in our daily lives that help us.
Meditating is now a habit for me, but it's been a long time since I've done other things like daily journaling beyond my morning and evening check-ins.
So don't worry, life changes, your lifestyle changes too, and there will be times when you don't feel like doing those things and you'll find others that fulfil you more and make you feel better.
That doesn't mean you should neglect your habits, but don't take it so seriously.
3. Stop waiting and do what you really enjoy.
You don't have to wait for something to happen or become that ideal version of yourself. You can start taking those small steps right now.
How would you like this new year to be? What things would you like to do? What things did you not do this year that you would have liked to do?
Even if they seem impossible or far away, try to take small steps to get closer to them. Time flies, and my best advice is to make the most of it, even if it means doing something that is small at first but will bear fruit over time.
4. Define what you want and what you don't want.
It's normal to feel stuck, even angry, when situations arise that we don't like, but is this really what you want? Understand that there are things beyond your control, then start focusing on what you DO want.
A small action can change the course of your day. I cannot guarantee that you will feel better, but the next time you face a situation like this, you will know what to do.
It is all a matter of practice.
5. Leave the past behind.
Learn to let go. The past, which hurts you so much, is limiting your ability to focus on the things you really want right now.
Forgive those you need to forgive and move on.
You are not the same person now as you were when you started this year, nor will you be next year.
What matters is what is happening right now, so learn to enjoy your days, this moment. Think about the things that make you feel good and be grateful; I'm sure you have something to be thankful for every day.
This is what I always advise, but it really works. Get yourself a gratitude journal and write in it every day or every night; it will really help you develop a more positive mindset.
Stereotypical and false trends such as tradwives.
In my opinion, it does not contribute anything beneficial, it only creates more confusion, even among people. Most of the things we see on social media are false, and you can aspire to have a life like that in the future, but it is not ideal for all women. Each person has their own path and goals.
Related to this are also high-value women, who also discredit other women for not having their mentality or ‘habits,’ when behind all this lies a hidden reality that is affecting and harming many young girls.
No one is more valuable than anyone else; no one can determine whether you are valuable or not, whether you follow certain advice or not. You give yourself value, and you are not going to be better than anyone else because you behave as a supposed guru tells you to in a video. You have to understand that they are influencers and it is their job; they are selling you something that is not real. Think for yourself and develop critical thinking, read and research things that really contribute to your life. Stop putting people on pedestals who do not really apply what they say.
2. The obsession with wanting to look rich and elegant.
It's fine that you like that style of clothing, but limiting yourself to wearing other types of clothes or doing things that aren't considered “elegant” is a pretty stupid belief. Enjoy your life, you're young, you can wear whatever you like.
I don't understand the obsession some influencers have with wanting to look “rich” when they're not. Real rich people don't even care about that.
Think about what your best self would look like and try to act accordingly. For your own improvement and well-being, not because of what others say.
3. Beauty routines with thousands of steps
It looks so aesthetic and comforting, doesn't it? Thousands of expensive skin care products and creams. Face masks, serums... but does your skin really need all that?
Know your skin type and buy the products you need. You don't need a multi-step routine. In most cases, a facial cleanser and a good moisturiser are all you need. Face masks from time to time. I prefer to massage my skin rather than use thousands of products.
I like to try new things and I've tried many, but what works for me now is the simplest thing.
How you take care of yourself on the inside (diet, sleep, and hydration) will give you beautiful skin. There's no point in using lots of expensive creams if you don't really take care of yourself on the inside.
If you have any skin-related problems, it's best to see a doctor and get their recommendation.
But we definitely don't need a million creams to make our skin look healthy and beautiful.
4. Fillers, surgery, and social media beauty standards.
You, reading this, are probably too young, and what you consider beautiful is the typical Instagram face. You may want to look like a filter, but you don't have to. Beauty isn't about that. It's better to work on your self-esteem. You don't need lips that take up your whole face to look pretty.
If you work on your self-esteem, you'll start to appreciate the kind of beauty you have (even if you don't feel comfortable with it at first) and have good thoughts about yourself, people will start to see the best version of you.
When you feel good on the inside, it shows on the outside.
Personally, it helps me to affirm myself while I'm walking down the street, and believe me, it works. Just say nice things to yourself, the things you would like other people to say to you or see in you.
But it's even more important that you work on your self-esteem for yourself.
What gives you value or opens doors is not your beauty, even though most people may think so. It's who you really are, so this year, invest more time in yourself.
Develop yourself as a person, learn new things that will serve you well, have fun and do the things you enjoy, surround yourself with people who fulfil you. You don't need to look like an Instagram model to get validation from whom? From people you don't even care about or who aren't good for you.
Have your own ideas and values and that will really make you stand out.
And finally, I would like to review my first posts. There are many things that I still agree with, but I want to make sure that after all this time I still feel the same way.
My mindset has changed in many ways, and I feel much better emotionally now than when I wrote those posts.
Would you like a review? A new point of view?
I look forward to your questions and wish you all a happy holiday season 🤍
