alice philbert scores on marilou grenier during the lshl pre-game shootout | 20/07/206

he knows nate has aura 😌
If I was in charge of the nhl my first priority would be fixing the rampant abuse and horrible labor practices but my second priority would be making the players post on Instagram regularly during the offseason so I could see my special lil guys and my third priority would be a game day dress code that banned sleeves so we could see their biceps
Who on the team right now would you say is the funniest guy on the Flyers?
Jamie: "Um…well I think Z is probably up there-Trevor. Whether you’er laughing with him or laughing at him, you know, he brightens the mood for sure."
Is it true that mack calls his dad dada?
the short answer to this question is... yes!
we see rick mention it in this article (more detailed analysis of the whole situation he's talking about here in this post):
This was one of those moments where dad expected the tension from the hill to make it to the dinner table. But Macklin, instead, wrapped his arms around his seated father from behind. The son squeezed tight enough to convey a love they don’t often declare. “And he gives me a kiss on the cheek,” Rick said. “And he’s like, ‘Thanks, da-da.’”
then mack follows it up by saying:
“I don’t remember that,” Macklin said, fighting off a smile as he barely hung onto the bit. “At all. He made that part up.”
...was he brushing off the kiss on the cheek part or the 'da-da' part? we'll never know.
and i kind of thought that was it right? i'd never really come across this fact until reading some willmack fics that included mack calling rick 'da-da', which i honestly thought was like, a stylistic choice, before i read it in more than one fic.
then i saw it in the article and was like 'hmm okay then!' because the article doesn't actually specify when the story they're describing took place, and we know rick has always trained his kids hard from a young age so i thought mack was maybe kind of young at the time, still growing out of 'da-da' etc before your friends think you're uncool for it, and that we were just clinging onto it fanfic-wise but ohohoho, i was so wrong.
the video below is from the 2024 nhl draft where mack went first overall, mack hugs his family one by one and when mack gets to rick he says, 'Thanks da-da.'
now, mack absolutely knows he's mic'd up. he obviously doesn't care that people know what he calls his dad, it's absolutely normal for him, so one can safely assume this is what he calls his dad on a regular basis!
a small, but definitely interesting, piece of information for willmack lore :)

idk man, something about sid’s docu feature being called there’s no place like home and nate being in so much of it— they’re so intrinsically linked, nate is his home.

“i think that’s a flaw in the cup”… insufferably competitive sore loser
it’s the way his smile gets more and more strained and by ball seven you can see the bloodthirst set in
love this damning assessment of him
he’s a parody of himself (affectionate)
