That was certainly one way of putting it. With the girl he’d been certainly eager and present, but very tame compared to his current self. His current self hadn’t properly blossomed until college.

It was always upsetting to see how the two girls important in his life clashed, but he knew he couldn’t change things between them. “Yeah, it’d be funny if you worked in the same place,” he chuckled though no. Given how the two girls acted around each other, it wouldn’t be the best thing for them to work together.

The tone of voice and the slight eyeroll should’ve given away what Jane thought of Madison. She had always tried to get along with her, but when it was clear Madison didn’t like her, Jane decided to stop playing nice and just treat Madison the same way, Jane believes in being treated the way you treat her.

“Yes, I’m sure.” She replied coldly as she took another sip of coffee. “What are you up to nowadays?”

“Things haven’t been as crazy for me, but I know things have been crazy for you recently.” Jane took a sip of her coffee to hide the smirk that had appeared on her face. She knew, she could recognise the moans as being his voice sometimes.

“I graduated from nursing school and I now work up at the hospital.” Jane continued. “I only moved to the complex as it’s closer to work.”

That smirk. It was probably medically alarming how fast Mason turned scarlet, quickly hiding his face behind the latte. So she did know about his sex life then… how fun. At least she didn’t seem disgusted by his antics - he’d gotten a response like that on more than one occasion. “I have been… busy,” he attempts, though the way his voice cracks gives away how nervous he is at this.

Hospital? Well if Jane worked at a local hospital, there was a decent chance she and Madison might actually work at the same one. “Madison did the same thing,” he chuckled. What a small world.

“Well, I’m glad you have finally found yourself in more ways than one.” She chuckled as she put her drink down.

Her face fell slightly when Madison was mentioned. ”Does she? How nice.”

You didn’t like us together anyway, so I should put your mind at rest. But I understand that stems from sibling love.

Mason’s eyes lit up at the mentioning of the drink, making grabby hands for it before he collected it from the girl and took a sip. Just as good as usual - he loved this coffee shop and their lattes especially.

“You need to fill me in on what you’ve been up to. I felt like I lost you after college and things got crazy,“ Mason laughed to her. In truth, part of why they lost connection was mostly on him. He could get lost in his work, and eventually too lost in others to really make time for friends.

Panic was a good word to use for what he was feeling right now. It was rare that people from his high school time ever crossed his path anymore, so seeing Jane again was quite the event. He’s unsure of how much of his… activities she’s head up to this point, but anything over nothing was too much as far as he was concerned.

As he walked into the coffee shop he tried not to let that fear show, fixing the curled mess of hair that sat atop his head. He stopped when he spotted her and his lips bloomed into a smile, feeling a lot of that nerve wash away as he saw her. He was tall in high school, yes, but he’d grown even more so after the fact.

“Jane!“ Mason called out across the coffee shop, caring little that there were plenty of other patrons around them. He walked over to her and stole the seat next to her, absentmindedly taking her hand. “It’s so good to see you again, I never thought I would!“

Jane put her phone down and smiled gently when she heard Mason’s voice. Her hair had changed slightly, she had ditched the afro and instead opted to have long hair, with the intention of getting dreadlocks.

She watched as Mason took a seat, slightly scruffy, but still the same recognisable and innocent Mason she knew from school.

Regarding the activities... she knew more than she let on.

“It’s so good to see you too!” She looked down when Mason took her hand, which made her slightly confused. Was it an absentminded thing?

“Of all places, the same apartment. I’m not stalking you, promise.” She teased as she picked up her coffee and took a sip. “I got you your usual.”

Jane & Mason - Coffee

Jane had agreed to meet Mason at a local coffee shop nearby. She went up to the counter and ordered a Cappuccino with an extra shot of coffee, while she ordered Mason his usual; an Iced Caramel Latte.

Of course she was here first, punctuality was one of her good traits. She found a good corner booth and took a seat. She took out her phone to look at any texts from Mason, but decided to play some phone games to pass the time.
