âYou only have yourself to blame,â Lloyd smoothly retorted. Standing from his seat, he glanced at Nadia with a smug smirk decorating his lips as he buttoned up his dinner jacket. âWhy you were so keen to dine at a M.B.F. place is beyond me, when your best-friend has the best chefs under his thumb, but now you know⊠betraying me never ends well.â He teased, pulling out her chair as she stood up, and holding her coat open. âRemind me the next time Iâm bored,â he leaned closer, voice carrying sinister undertones, âThat I have a place to burn down.â
Betraying me never ends well. Nadia ignored the unintended double meaning behind his words and instead smirked, âAs always, I was only looking out for your best interests---â Loyal, loyal, she was loyal, â----isnât this place, for some unknown reason, considered your competition? Perhaps itâs mediocrity is somehow appealing to the masses.â Her smile widened at his words, her eyes showing only a keen interest and excitement when what she was truly feeling was dread at the horror he could inflict if left unchecked, âAnd maybe afterwards theyâd put a worthy business in itâs place. But for now Iâm ready to take advantage of those chefs you were bragging about earlier---shall we?â
