Dom was quick to crash into him, wrapping him up in a tight hug. “Alby! I’ll give you as manyy as you want as long as you tell me how much you missed me.”
Albus stumbled back a step when she tackled him with a hug, but quickly squeezed her back and let out a small chuckle. “Surprisingly, I actually missed you quite a bit," he teased, before taking a step back to smile at her. "No, I really did. How was it, though? You look great."
“I know that I should be thankful but I think I would die happy if I didn’t have to sign another piece of paper or…body part ever again. –Well at least for a little while.”
“How you break my heart, Dom. All I ever wanted was for you to sign my poster so I could tell all my friends that I know a superstar.”
Ryder winced. Of all th people he could meet in his first hour back in Britain, it had to be him. At least it wasn’t Rhys. He knew to expect exactly that — or maybe worse — from Albus, but he still felt slightly annoyed at his all-knowing tone. “Yes, I am back now. I portkeyed from Paris ten minutes ago. So no, Jane doesn’t know. She’s working, I’m not going to disturb her.”
Albus, quite frankly, still couldn’t believe that Ryder was actually back. Anger was already starting to seep back into his system, but it still took him a few moments before he could say anything else. Scoffing, he merely rolled his eyes at him. “Right. How very noble of you. But Jane isn’t here, Bellamy; you don’t need to put up an ACT. As you’ve so clearly displayed, you don’t give a damn about her, so there’s no point in pretending just for me.”
“It’s me, Al. When do I not have tea, and when am I not grateful for you saving my life?” Not for the first time, Teddy thanked the stars that Albus existed. They crouched down to grab the secret stash of tea they always kept under the counter, knocking their head as they stood back up. “Have I ever told you that you’re my favourite Potter? Don’t tell James I said that, wouldn’t want to bruise his ego.”
Albus’ lips tugged up into a grin, before he fondly shook his head at them. “True. If you had answered any differently, I would have been a little concerned about your wellbeing. Not to worry, though, I won’t hold this over your head for TOO long.” Leaning against the disk, he cast a glance towards the customer, but she seemed to be subdued for now. “Something tells me he would survive. It’s nice to hear, though; you should announce it more often. Like, I don't know, at the next family dinner. --- I’d bring out some milk and sugar while you’re at it, too; she was very particular about how she wants her tea. I have instructions down to the second.”
“This…. isn’t what I ordered. Is ineptitude a theme here or is it just you?”
“I think THAT,” Albus started, deciding to intervene when the employee’s face began to resemble a lobster, “would be mine. Easy mistake to make. I’m guessing this is yours, then?” he questioned, holding out the order he’d received.
“Is there anything you need or would you just like to keep staring? I don’t mean to be rude, it’s just a practical question. Either way, take a seat. You’ve been there for a while.”
“I think I’ll keep staring, thank you,” Albus responded, eyes hardening. "So, what, you're just back now? Does Jane know?"
“Look, I understand you’re annoyed, but yelling at me won’t make the manager floo here any faster.”
“Ma’am, why don’t you take a seat and I’ll make you some tea while you wait?” Albus intervened, a polite smile on his face as he steered the angry customer away from his cousin. Doubling back around after having listened to her rant for a few more minutes, he grimaced quickly at Teddy. “Hey, buddy, hope it was okay that I did that. Also, I really hope you do have tea because otherwise I might have made the situation worse.”
