Anastasia’s patience was running thin. It was one thing to spend a few weeks in London, trailing senior officers in the field, attending meetings that lasted far too long for her taste, and organizing those dreadful workshops for children at youth. It was another entirely to be at it for months, without word from higher ups at home and no sense of when she’d be back in her own country. Not that her brother was much help, earning himself a more permanent position in the Ministry and all but abandoning Anastasia in her quest to return home. Needless to say, Anastasia was not in the mood to play secretary. Even less so when the man in front of her barely even bothered to l i s t e n. “I’m looking for a James Potter?” The name felt strange on her tongue and sounded stranger yet in her accent.
James’ fingers curled around his travel mug, taking a swig of his coffee, pursing his lips when the woman spoke up about what she was after. Or, rather, who it was that she was looking for. He had never seen the woman around before and if her accent was any indication, she was not from around London. But James did not know why anyone would be specifically looking for him. Wide awake and on high alert, James reached his free hand into his pocket for his Ministry ID, displaying it to the woman. Hopefully she was not so trusting that she would just take him for his word, so he wanted to prove that he was who he was really saying that he was. “Well, you found him.” Circling the lanyard around his neck, he maneuvered his weight from one foot to the other. “Is there something that I can help you with?”
