She looked at him and she sighed. “It is my name … But what is done…Is done… I failed… Somehow when I came back … here… was right after I lost.. “She shouted frustated. “i know you don’t understand… But — But the reason that you have felt the way you have – Is because of me!”She argued. “I am the avatar to— “Korra said as she walked with him to her loft which was not far from the arena and she let him in and she shut the door locking it.
“Aang…. When that thing you saw– killed Rava– the light spirit… It severed the connection to the avatar cycle…i saw each of our past lives be destroyed before my very eyes….You have no idea what I have been through. How can you say or understand what I have been with or help me!”she said as she went to the mirror and broke it in frustration. Seven years of bad luck would seem like good luck to her personally…
She saw her hand bleeding and she looked at it and bent over the sink breathing heavily. “I can’t be fixed Aang…I am broken….”she stated as tears fell from her face to the hand to the water remains that circled the drain and into the pipes. “I wish things had gone differently…But they didn't’ I lost – and somehow I left my world — and let our world spiral into darkness–”
“I am no avatar– I am just a nobody”She stated more to herself then him.
When that thing you saw killed Raava…
Something very physical happened to Aang in that moment.
Before that, he was alarmed to say the least about her sudden outburst, even more alarmed when he realized he literally didn’t understand anything she was saying. For a split moment, he even wondered if he had slipped somehow mentally, if he had forgotten the Common Language and just literally didn’t understand her.
But he knew every word she said. It just didn’t make any sense. Until she mentioned the name Raava and he felt his breath catch. The rise of anxiety, of panic, something similar to being shut in a small room.
“Raava? Who’s Raave?” he asked. “Who killed her? You need help. You–hey!”
He didn’t stop. He followed quickly behind her, trying to keep up with her, both physically and mentally. He stood in the doorway of what he thought must have been her house.
He had never felt like this before. He felt like his entire person was racing, raging. Like he should be bracing for a fight. Like he was being given some horrible, life shattering news, and yet he didn’t understand a word of it.
And then she smashed the mirror and he felt the punch himself. His started with the pain in his own fingers, felt his heart skip when he felt something warm and wet web through his knuckles. He looked at his hand. It was clean. He looked at hers and saw the blood. The blood he felt on his own hand.
His ears were ringing.
“What…”
I’m the Avatar, too…. I’m no Avatar.
“Okay.” His voice was hallow. His head somehow light and heavy at the same time. Slowly, he closed the door to her apartment, shutting them in. He wasn’t going anywhere.
“Look… I’m not sure…
“I think maybe you just need to calm down a bit. You’re not making any sense.”
Was she? How did she know so much about him? What he was feeling?
Unless she felt it too.
“Who are you?”
Korra looked to him as she sat down finally as she looked down. “Like you said, my name is Korra. I am the daughter of the chieftain of the Southern Water Tribe. I was brought to the order of the white lotus when I was young and trained in a compound under Master Katara, and some of the other bending masters till it was time for me to learn Air bending. “She said as she tried to explain the events that led them to the present day and how that Republic City was built in his honor and she was being taught by his son... Tenzin .. “ And that is pretty much it”she said as she looked down.
“Well up until the point where I failed and ruined everything... Everything that you worked so hard to build and protect.”she stated as she looked down. She even told him that they even had restarted the air nation because of the convergence... before the chaos started. She then explained about Kai and the story of the first avatar and Raava and the Dark spirit how Kai separated the two and then that how the order of the Avatar was established was during the convergence and how she had failed to save Raava from being destroyed and that the lives of his --- and every one of their past lives even Kai’s how they vanished in front of her eyes. “Aang.... I am sorry -- I failed us ---” she said clenching her hands. “You don’t know how sorry I am for this -- “
“I don’t know what to do anymore... I always known or have known to be the Avatar bringer of peace. But now -- with that part gone ... I don’t know what I am -- I still have my bending --- But thats about it. A nobody who hasn’t and wont do anything anymore for the world... Ever -- again”she said as she looked to the window avoiding his gaze once again.

Korra thought she had had enough of the situation that she had been faced with. It was bad enough that the situation with Amon, and then the dark spirit, having Rava stripped from her body.. Severing her connection with the spirit world, as well as the previous avatars. As if that wasn’t enough…Before she and Rava could reconnect, she saw the Dark spirit destroy her… Then Aang happened to show up. Which was actually making her feel worse then she was actually feeling right now…
She had walked past him for a reason. To deal with the dread and the despair that she was dealing with… Alone. She had disappointed the world long enough…For the last time…Loosing to that thing… was the last straw for her.. The straw that broke the camel’s back.
“It’s nothing”she said trying to reassure him as this was the last thing she wanted to burden him with. Knowing that the reason why he could not talk to any of his past lives, was because of her. Her failing to save Rava… Failing to save the cycle of the avatar. That she would be the last avatar… in history. And the legacy that she had left behind, was less then stellar. Her failures…outweighed her accomplishments.
“I don’t believe we know each other.”she lied as she felt another flashback of one of Aang’s memories and hers intertwine and she closed her eyes like trying to shut out a bad headache. “Besides, If I told you – you wouldn’t believe me if I had…”she said as she winced as she felt one of her wounds from that night almost three weeks ago now, re irritate itself. Probably from tonights ordeal. Maybe she should have sat tonight out, but something told her she should; and besides, she needed the money…
Every word she said seemed to echo in Aang’s head. He felt like he had already heard them before, like the spongy, echoing sensation of a memory. And yet. he felt like they were his own words, like he had been turning them over in his head for weeks and just now he was able to hear them come alive.
He wasn’t sure what that meant, if it meant anything. He just knew, standing here, next to her, was the most alive he had felt in weeks. He felt the colors around him–even in the night–were brighter than they ever had been and he felt light, almost dizzy with the incredibly elated feeling that he had just met someone deeply, deeply important.
“Look, I–” he had to stop, though. All he had done was lean closer and a flash snapped behind his eyes, lifted his hand to her shoulder. A whirl of images, none of them making any sense.
He saw her, this girl, fighting, throwing punches of water, fire, air, and earth. He saw a man with a scar close in on her, on him. Screaming faces. Darkness.
The images flashed and tumbled, everything like Aang was looking through her eyes. A man held him, cried over him, begged him to get better. A beautiful woman he did not recognize held his hand.
And one name rolled through his head. Korra. Korra. Korra.
He let go of her and found himself trembling. Found her trying to make her leave.
“Wait! Stop!” With a kick of Air Bending he placed himself before her, blocked her path. “I do know you. I know I do.
“Look, this is going to sound crazy, but I’m the Avatar. Crazy stuff happens to me.
“–And I think I’m meant to help you… Korra.
“That’s you’re name. Isn’t it?”
She looked at him and she sighed. “It is my name ... But what is done...Is done... I failed... Somehow when I came back ... here... was right after I lost.. “She shouted frustated. “i know you don’t understand... Korra had failed, she had not just failed herself, but the entire world. She had ran away to the Earth Capital and she didn’t want to bother anyone. She didn’t know that the day or time she was in. But she was just glad, it was away from Republic City. She wasn’t even aware of the time shift until she had noticed that things here in the Earth Capital were a little different. But she didn’t care that people didn’t recognize her as the avatar that failed. In truth, she was perfectly fine with this.
She got herself a job as a Mixed Martial Arts Fighter in the earth bending underground. It didn’t pay much…But it was enough for the past few weeks that she was able to get a small loft in the city and stay low key. The fight tonight was pretty brutal, she had lost. Little did she know that someone in the stands was watching her. She had felt the presence as someone that she had known. But it was impossible… She collected her earnings and then limped gently to the exit where she started to heal herself before making her way out towards the streets of the city.
Then she heard a voice she never thought she’d hear again. Avatar Aang.. Not just with him as a child, but as an young adult. Her eyes widened briefly and she then started to walk past him as she just wanted to get this night over and done with so she can prepare for the coming weeks and stay just that… a nobody….“I am sorry…I think you have me misconstrued with someone else.”she said as she passed him as she was tired, sore and exhausted. Korra just wanted to go back to her loft and collapse and heal before the next fight in two days. It wasn’t as she made it about a block away from him, that she started to get lightheaded and leaned on the wall as some flashbacks started to occur. But she lowered her head trying to shake them away and to recompose herself before continuing forward.
For the past few weeks, Aang had been feeling off.
It was a hard sensation to pinpoint, and an even harder reason to locate. Nothing had happened for the reaction that he could remember. He had simply went to sleep one night and woken feeling horrible, a scraping, uncomfortable combination of dread, depression, and foreboding. A pulling, sinking feeling that made him feel halved.
It’s anxiety for the wedding. Was what his friends told him. You’re still upset about the rebel attack. You just need sleep. Maybe you’re sick.
No reason drug up any solution and no amount of meditating seemed to fix it. He had hoped it was nothing more than a natural shift of emotions, that he would be better soon. By the third week, though, he had started to feel rather consumed by it all.
So, when he had passed the Earth Bending wrestling arena that night, and felt a surge of life close to something familiar, he couldn’t ignore it. He stared at the decrepit building for a long while, listening to the muffled cries and cheers.
Why had he suddenly seemed to click back together, quite literally. Standing there, staring at the building, he felt he could think clearly again, feel clearly. He almost even felt the tug of a smile from the sheer relief of it.
And maybe that was what pushed him inside. What made him sift through the crowd, uncomfortable, hot, sticky, trying to avoid jeering shouts and cheering elbows.
And then he saw her.
Looking at her was like something he had never felt before. It was like seeing an old friend he thought had been dead, but even more. He felt he knew her, and staring at her, he felt that connection was somehow even deeper.
His fists ached with every punch she made, and each time she shot a wall of rock, he could feel the bending well up inside his own body. It was when she took a blow and he fell back, physically winded, that he knew something was wrong.
Knew there was a connection he needed to address.
“Hey!” he tried shouting throughout the match. His call never went answered over the crowd.
He turned over every possibility in his head while he waited impatiently outside to try to meet her. Maybe she was a spirit, taken human form. Or a spirit within a human. Or maybe the distant daughter of a past life who needed help now. When was the last time he had spoken to his past lives?
When he heard the door open, he shot up, expectedly. There she was. And there was the same flurry of recognition inside Aang, a nervous, swooping sensation.
“Hey,” he started, trying to keep himself from running at her. “That was some fight, huh? Listen, I don’t know you, but–”
And she snubbed him. He stopped, physically shocked by the sound of her own voice. He could taste her words on his own tongue like he had spoken them. Could hear her echoing in his head, something reminiscent of a memory.
The shock held him still for a long moment, and then, as she turned the corner, the dread began to settle back. He very clearly needed to speak with her, some spiritual presence was making that very clear. So, he raced after her.
And found her leaning against the wall, looking a little sick.
“Hey, are you okay?” he asked, carefully walking to her side. “That fight was a bit rough, huh?
“–Listen, my fiancé –”he still liked turning the word over–”is a healer. She can help you.”
He was only able to hold his polite smile a moment before learning forward, trying to get a better look at her face.
“Do I… know you?”

Zuko tilted his head in confusion. He would have tried to cut into what the woman was saying, but he was at a loss.
“What are even talking about?” Zuko asked with a puzzled expression. “You’re not the Avatar, and you’re sounding more crazy than my dister.”
She sighed as she looked at him as she held up her hands and in them she bended a small ball of earth, air fire, and then finally water. Before it disappeared. “Believe me now?”she questioned.

“Why am I attacking— I am not trying to attack anyone”she said as she paused as she was weak. She leaned over as she felt the recovered strength leaving her and she stepped more into the light to reveal her injured body which was tattered and bruised and it looked like that even before she had encountered the guards down the hall, she had taken part of an immense battle. Similar to the condition of Aang after he had tried to defeat Zuko’s father the first time. “I didn’t attack anyone..they attacked me”she said pausing breathing heavily as she bent down to the ground. “I am – I am Avatar Korra….” She said before she fainted.
A while later she woke as she winced as she saw someone next to her. The Fire Lord, “I am — Where am I “she said pausing. Not really remembering the events of the night prior. All that she knew, was that she disappointed the entire world by her defeat, and she wasn’t about to save anyone again… anytime soon.
Zuko watched her cautiously, all the while maintaining his stance. She seemed confused and disoriented and, as she stepped into the light, the Firelord began to see that she was badly beaten and bruised. ‘
His curiously grew, however, as she declared that she was the Avatar.
“That;s impossible–!”
But before h could get another word in, the girl fainted, which was even more perplexing.
This was a curious little, incident, he thought as he approached the unconscious girl.
When his guards finally came, Zuko had her confined to to one of the guest rooms and instructed them to alert him when she finally came to.
Zuko said nothing as he stood over her, waiting for her to recover from her painting spell before questioning her.
Korra winced as she sat up from her position. She didn’t really understand the measure of what had just happened...But one thing was certain, that she was not in her own time. She was in the past. The Fire Lord Zuko she knew... Was now reaching 70 years old.
Turning to the other she sighed, “I am sure there -- There is like 100 questions that you wish to ask me...”she said as she rubbed her neck a little bit. She figured now would be the time that ... if anything to tell what happened. So she started at the beginning and then worked her way to the part about her uncle trying to become the dark avatar and then taking the light spirit that connected the line to the avatar cycle severed and then destroying it ... then she explained how she ended up here.
“I still have my avatar powers...but --- my connection to Aang and the others...they--- it ... its gone... I will be the last avatar.... Ever...”she said as she turned away from him as she hated that she had lost and been defeated by the dark spirit in the first place.
Everything has Changed
@burnscxrred
The stranger who entered the room seemed to be wearing some sort of modified water tribe clothing, and yet the stance she took was a firebending stance. Zuko considered her closely, not moving from the way he stood, prepared to send up flames or block in an instant. What had happened to his guards, why hadn’t they kept the intruder out?
“How you got here?” He asked. “You walked into the palace! I want to know why you’re here!” He took a careful step toward her, and then paused at the confusion on her face when she mentioned his name.
Slowly, Zuko lowered his stance. “Yeah… you… weren’t coming to see me?” He asked, puzzlement clouding his own expression. If she didn’t know who he was then she probably wasn’t an assassin. But then… what was she doing here? He was sure he’d never seen her before. Her recognition of him wasn’t startling– Zuko was pretty recognizable. But the way she acted, the bending stance she took and her clothes… it was all strange.
Who was this strange girl and why had she stumbled into his throne room like this? He carefully allowed his hands to return to his sides, though he remained ready should she, for some reason? Decide to attack.
“Who are you?”
“Why would I be coming to see you?”She questioned as she came into the light more as she looked as if she had gone through a great battle just before arriving here. “I had seen fallen guards on the way but tried, to help but they were only unconscious. “She rambled as she looked downward.
“What time is this ?This has to be -- “her head hurt as she leaned back a little and winced as she felt her wound from Amon hurt and she bent downward. “My name... My name is Avatar Korra”she said as she felt lightheaded. Maybe coming so far wasn't the best. “If your here, then I am in the past... Avatar Aang is gone where I am --from.. I have... I lost the battle I was fighting ... I “she said before she fainted as she heard sounds.
A couple guards had come in as well as everything went dark. Korra woke up later as she found herself on a bed and she winced as her body hurt. “What -- What the--- where am I ?”she asked curiously.

Korra had been wandering the palace for hours it seamed. The desolate hallways were as quiet as a cemetery. If someone had or were to; drop a pin on the ground, it would ring louder then another’s footsteps. She had a chance to run into someone hopefully. Someone who could hopefully explain what had happened to her after the fight with Amon to explain why she was in Republic City one moment, and here the next.
Only one or two guards had tried to attack her, but from the looks of their garb, they were fire nation. Now why would fire nation be here– in Republic City. She knew she thought the encounter was odd, but she pressed onward trying to find more answers of a person who could help her, or to at least – find a way out of this palace.
She had turned two corners. A left and then down the hallway, she took another left. Finding a door, she opened it gently only to see that someone was already waiting for her in a bending stance, “I mean you no harm…”she said as she took another fire bending pose as it was similar to the one he was doing. “I just want to know how I got here… Or to know where here— is exactly.”she said as she danced as she waited to see who would make the first move. It was not till moments later, that she realized who “he”was as she saw the burn on his left eye… The burn from the remains of someone who had lost an duel…
“Fire Lord – Zuko?” She questioned.
Korra almost shook her head in confusion. But wait a moment; wasn’t Fire Lord Zuko like — 70 years old or something… Like Tenzin … But this person was not much older then she was. Maybe not even a year older then she was… How was – this possible…
The war had ended, but Zuko’s work had only just began. He had spent the last couple of weeks meeting with various delegations from all four nations, giving out reparations, and trying to quell discontent in his own nation as they entered his “new era” as he’d taken to calling it. He rubbed his temples–if ony bringing about a new era didn’t mean so much sleep deprivation and and annoyance.
He sighed, clenching his eyes closed as he tried to drown out all thought of unsatisfied citizens and nobles, He needed his rest. Really.
But that all changed when he he heard a commotion coming from down the hall. His eyes shot open, all thought of sleep leaving him as became instantly alert, jumping off from his seat and assuming a fighting stance moments before the door opened to reveal a girl dressed in Water Tribe blue.
Her appearance puzzld him, but still Zuko tried to focus on the situation at hand.
“Who are you, and what are you doing attacking my guards?” Zuko demanded.
“Why am I attacking--- I am not trying to attack anyone”she said as she paused as she was weak. I gonna interact definately even if you and me --- id love to do tons with my past life :)
The throne room was lit only by a few torches, their light flickering and reflecting off the walls in feverishly dancing patterns, twisting and turning and jumping.
Zuko only saw the flickering as light through his closed eyelids. In front of him, where the past fire lords had surrounded themselves in a wall of flame, were lit only a few small tongues to act as candles. Zuko’s breath was regulated. In for a count of four, held for a count of four, and out for a count of eight. Over and over, his focus firmly held on his breath and the flickering tongues of flame.
Meditation had become difficult. Zuko couldn’t keep his focus upon it anymore. Not since the attempt on his life nearly a week ago. A masked assassin had crept into his sleeping chamber, carrying a dagger. Zuko had woken and disarmed him, taking the poisoned weapon, but the assassin had vanished into the night.
He was still out there somewhere.
There! Zuko thought he heard a footstep to his left. His head spun around. “Who’s there?” He called. No answer. Was he hearing things? Was he losing his mind?
The door to the chamber opened. Rather than logically waiting to see who it was, the young Fire Lord, on edge, leapt to his feet, taking a bending stance. “Don’t take another step!” He half-shouted before even seeing who it was.
Korra had been wandering the palace for hours it seamed. The desolate hallways were as quiet as a cemetary.
Now why would fire nation be here-- in Republic City. She knew she thought the encounter was odd, but she pressed onward trying to find more answers of a person who could help her, or to at least -- find a way out of this palace.
She had turned two corners. A left and then down the hallway, she took another left. Finding a door, she opened it gently only to see that someone was already waiting for her in a bending stance, “I mean you no harm...”she said as she took another fire bending pose as it was similar to the one he was doing. “I just want to know how I got here... Or to know where here--- is exactly.”she said as she danced as she waited to see who would make the first move. It was not till moments later, that she realized who “he”was as she saw the burn on his left eye... The burn from the remains of someone who had lost an duel...
“Fire Lord -- Zuko?” She questioned.
Korra almost shook her head in confusion. But wait a moment; wasn't Fire Lord Zuko like --- 70 years old or something... Like Tenzin ... But this person was not much older then she was.

Korra had failed, she had not just failed herself, but the entire world. She had ran away to the Earth Capital and she didn’t want to bother anyone. She didn't know that the day or time she was in. But she was just glad, it was away from Republic City. Then she heard a voice she never thought she’d hear again. Avatar Aang.. Not just with him as a child, but as an young adult. “I am sorry...I think you have me misconstrued with someone else.”she said as she passed him as she was tired, and just wanted to go back to the loft and collapse and heal before the next fight in two days.

“You really don’t look so good. Are you sick?”
“its nothing---” She said as she looked downward and then paused as she turned to see who it was... It was her grandmother. Not --- as she was now -- but when she was -- younger. What was going on... “What -- What is going on?” She wondered curiously. Lately, she did not realize what had happened to her. But after Amon, she didn't know if she could trust herself.... Or even being the avatar for anyone... Anytime soon...Ever again. That was one of the reasons she had ran away from everyone in the first place. Because after everything, she was then/always will be... a disgrace...
