Idea: month long event with a calender of different prompts. Then draw your ocs (or the ocs of others with their permission) following the art prompts!

You can do those promts with any octonauts ocs you want.
But i wanna give this event a social aspect that really has artists boosting each other more!

My idea is that we choose around 3 of our favorite ocs and make a post showing their designs and GENERAL info about the oc. You can also include if youre okay with recieving fanart of said oc.
The goal here is that we go try our BEST to ask questions about these ocs in the artists inbox and etc! Engage as much as u can cuz ocs are hard to get seen and loved!

If you receive fanart of your oc you can definitely make fanart of the other persons ocs, but it ID NOT EXPECTED OR REQUIRED.

tldr, I have a plethora of thoughts about the way policy and governance would work in the world of Octonauts. People need to eat, but there is a moral dilemma with that.

i really wanna talk about how i view tweak and kwaziis relationship with this dialogue exchange because i feel like they’d really Get each other, ya know??

this is about to be a looong ramble so ill put it under the cut!
before i talk about tweak i have to explain the realm in which she lives in for me. the world of the octonauts (in my head) is one of disbalanced power and deep separations between creatures. land dwelling creatures and aquatic creatures, mammals and birds, predators and prey, and anthropomorphic creatures vs everyone else (though in this world the word anthro wouldnt exist so i need a better name for that…)
there is a lot of privilege, disproportionality and a whole lot more issues that i dont wanna get into right now. but in the context of the octonauts this includes a difference in access to knowledge, healthcare, and overall survivability. to me the octonauts is an attempt to give those who lack the support of their governments the things they need to survive in a changing world. the ocean is widely disregarded, as are the creatures living in it. then those land creatures who are not of anthropomorphic status (i really need a better name!!) are being disrupted by the activities of urban expansion.
tldr, things aint pretty.
“what does this have to do with tweak??” well tweak initially worked on projects with the hope that they can be used to better educated the broader world about what people need to survive as well as providing the necessary tools to help these creatures. she grew up with a man who goes out in the field every day to help a community, so she only followed that motive.
because of this though, tweak had become quite stuck in her goal of solving problems. she’d dedicate all of her freetime to streamlining projects, taking sample data and turning it into a workable command function, designing the building blocks of machinery for lab and research use, and more. she separates herself from her peers, professors and colleagues and decides that to help out she must keep improving.
she becomes isolated and forgets what it is she’s working for, only working to better herself. by the time she meets professor inkling she has assisted in and even co-authored schematics for energy efficient power grids, exploration and tagging drones, even lab machinery. but she still has no friends.
when inkling asked her to design a submersible she agreed if only to challenge herself further. and the more successful she was, the more she worked to be even better.
…and so the beta octopod was born?
from then on she buries herself in the octopod, even after the crash of the first and the official beginnings of the octonauts with dashi and shellington. she was curt and unapproachable early on, only attending missions when she was necessary.
it wasnt until dashi invites her and the rest of the small crew to spend the off season together for a weekend when tweak finally began to open up.
then after some cheesy bonding time, tweak learns the value of the work she is doing and starts to separate herself from it. its not perfect but she’s working on it. and now she loves being and octonaut and loves the things she is doing and the lives she’s improving
(barnacles helped a lot with this realization too. tweak holds immense respect for him and considers him and professor inkling her closest confidants.)
