Despite their bantering, it seems they've gone aside to get him something for his birthday after allβeven if it's only so he doesn't call upon it in the future for an even larger favor with interest. They catch him after classes are over for the day near the mirror hall; it's easy to do, when he stands out decorated up in those outfits everyone seems to get when their turn comes around. They're holding a little yellow-wrapped box in one hand with a white bow slapped on it when he comes near, and Lyric scoffs a little at his attire when he gets near.
"... you like practical stuff, right?"
Ruggie seemed like a practical person at the end of it. Why get him something he'll never use? That's Lyric's thought. Willingly do they hand over the box: it has a metallic sound to it, because it's an airtight looseleaf cannister. They'd cleaned it out and carefully removed the label to put a fresh on one for it's new contents.
"It's dandelion tea. Good for your immune system, and digestion, stress. High in Vitamin A and Vitamin C and potassium and polysaccharides... Should help with that high stress lifestyle you live, huh? Running around for Leona."
They seem amused at the thought of it, but their choice is very intentional. They planted & picked them all meticulously from the greenhouse, dried them, and prepared them just for this purpose after all.
"Happy birthday, Ruggie. You only get one a year."
As the day goes on, Ruggie counts up his gifts and well wishes, and keeps a very clear list of who in his circles present him with something this year. As classes wind down and end for the day, he finds himself noting that maybe he will have to take this as an IOU to cash out against Lyric some other day, which is no real bother to Ruggie in the slightest, he knew how to lay guilt on thick and get the biggest return on a missed birthday gift.
As he walks to the hall of mirrors, he perks up at the sight of them, striding casually over to meet them. He nods at their inquiry, leering over with keen interest.
He takes the box, picking subconsciously at the white bow as he listens to them describe the gift, unleashing a bit of all that plant wisdom they've got. It's a well thought out gift, handmade, kind, a special sort of priceless that even Ruggie can covet.
"Heh, wow, ya really went outta your way for this, huh? Thanks, Lyric, I really appreciate it~!"
