A spot of rain. http://instagr.am/p/O1x-kSyGGq/
Following the game, we headed back on the 7 to Times Square, from there we wandered over towards the East River and found a small park with some stunning views over towards Roosevelt Island, Queens and Long Island City. From there we found an East Midtown bar called the Stag's Head. These guys have an awesome craft beer selection and I imbibed a couple of Checker Cab Blonde ales which went down really well.
Eventually we headed back to the neighbourhood and got some food. We ended up at the Maya Taqueria where I had the best burrito I've ever eaten. The place was no classy venue, but rather a small cantina style place that is all about the food. If you have a burrito, get a Jarritos - a Mexican soft drink that goes really well with your food.
So we jumped on the 7 train yesterday and headed out to Flushing, Queens. This is where the New York Mets play at Citi-Field. WE went to watch the final game of the series against the Houston Astros. The Mets haven't been so hot lately and the series was tied at 1 game apiece.
The Mets managed to win a tight encounter with the final hit of the ball at the bottom of the 9th inning. The crowd went nuts! The stadium food is far above anything I'm used to at Anfield, Villa Park or anywhere else and we stuffed our faces and I got through a few beers to keep cool during the game too.
Who clips their nails on the subway anyway?
Natasha Miller upon witnessing a lady on the subway at 8pm on a Sunday giving herself a DIY manicure. Grim.
Brunch at Tom's yesterday morning was amazing. Tom's Diner is a Prospect Heights institution that has been serving up top class diner fare since the 1930s.
The coffee was strong, the atmosphere fun and the food was something else. I went for the Eggs Benedict while Tasha has Challah (Jewish bread) french toast with banana.
How much mobile data are you using?!
I'm only uploading via wi-fi! I have mobile data/data roaming turned off, so I'm using wi-fi at the apartment, or whatever I can leech from in public places.
Gonna try and get a pay & go SIM here in the states next time so I can use data when I'm out and about.
Breakfast in the West Village. Peaceful! http://instagr.am/p/OwM7BESGIy/

At Plan B in Brooklyn for some NFL pre-season action. http://instagr.am/p/Ouwr_DSGD1/
Yesterday night was awesome. Every August, Central Park runs free films in the park on a giant screen near 72nd Street. Last night was The Big Lebowski and watching it with thousands of other people who love the film was an awesome experience. A great film and a great night all around.
Rocky Road Rage ice cream. This is the small one!

Brooklyn Bridge Park and some epic views.
Wildlife in NYC, not just rats and roaches.
Downtown.
Following a filling breakfast, we wandered Battery Park City and Lower Manhattan. Beautiful views and a decent way to walk off a huge meal!
Breakfast yesterday consisted of pancakes, maple syrup, butter, pork sausage and plenty of coffee at a diner in Brooklyn called 'The Usual'
It was awesome, but so filling that the rest of the morning consisted of lazily wandering around parks with a serious case of lethargy. Tasty, tasty lethargy.
