I dont know if im reading too much into it, but i feel like we dont really see Villanelle have any bad habits like drinking too much or smoking for like, the pleasure of doing so. Has this ever been addressed or have you thought about that?
It’s funny that you bring this up because I have actually thought about it recently! In 3x05 when Villanelle’s mother wanted to make a toast to Villanelle’s return, Villanelle doesn’t take the shot, she throws it over her shoulder. It struck me as odd that she did that? For someone who was struggling to connect and find some sense of belonging, I feel like she would’ve wanted to join in with them on drinking to the toast. It’s entirely possible that it was simply cheap vodka and Villanelle felt that she was too refined to indulge in it, but I also think that Villanelle really restricts her consumption of anything that could alter her sense of control because it’s something that she struggles so desperately to hold on to. Who knows, abstaining from drinking may even be something that she was taught in her training so that she would always be 100% aware of her surroundings. But ultimately for Villanelle, I think she knows that her job relies on her being in tip top shape, so aside from the champagne she would occasionally indulge in after a successful kill, I don’t think alcohol or smoking or any other vices like that are things that particularly appeal to her. If you think about it, really the only time we ever did see her indulge herself was when she used drugs after she thought that Eve had forgotten about her. But in that instance I think it made total sense that she did that, because she was losing her sense of control over the situation and the drug use was simply a physical manifestation of that.
Anna,
My blind eyes are desperately waiting to see you again. I miss you so much. I wish you could be here, right now! Sometimes, at night, I look at the sky and I make a wish, staring at the brightest star. I imagine this star is you.
Oksana.

Anna, my tender love,
I will patiently wait until tomorrow to see you, and yet, tomorrow seems so far away. I’m impatient to give you this message, so I could feel close to you for a brief moment.
Oksana.

In May 2017, Phoebe texted me. “There is a girl called Jodie Comer who gave an awesome taping. Super smart, dangerous, seductive and stroppy.” I watched the screen test. Jodie looked, and sounded, exactly as I had always imagined Villanelle. Poised, clear-eyed, shimmering with threat. [...] A fortnight later, Nicky and I visited the set in Paris. It was July, the sun was shining, the cameras were in position, and there was Jodie, as Villanelle, marching through Palais Royal in her scarlet and white Miu Miu dress, blond hair swinging. You get, if you’re lucky, a handful of perfect moments in life. That was one of mine.
