I remember every love I've had.
I've had plenty of encounters, partners, and vagabonds.
But my loves, the places where fragments of my heart still linger live in my memory like a baby blanket.
I am often times reminded of them in the people around me, closest to me, or in passing. A sweet smell, smile, or sigh. A freckle, their hair, or the hum of their snore. I am brought back to the moments of peace in my life where my heart lead all action, and my mind could hardly keep pace. Stamina of a heavy hoofed horse, my heart never stopped after them, never stopped loving them. That is, until eventually my mind caught up.
I find myself, in moments of passion, wondering if at all, there are any pieces of my heart left to give.
Had all my blood fallen stale? Could it boil again by the touch of someone, was it capable? A kiss perhaps, or an evening intertwined? I decided I'd try, everytime.
How insincere a notion. If everyone has it, how special can it be. I'd desensitised myself. I'd only blamed my self. I walked a path, forced passion and fire for kicks, and hoped something would spark a flame in me, selfishly. All the while, I'd ignited those around me, only to rain on their parade.
To walk over the cinders and ashe, an icy gaze, but to never look back.
So I stepped back into my self, dug a cave, buried in the darkness. Winter took over. Cold crept into my soul, and I lost so much hope. I slept, slumbered, hibernated, realizing my design flaws.
Eventually, slowly, I uncurled my hands and started into the sun. Reaching again. For a pulse, a heartbeat that matched mine. A spark, or a flame. The possibility of warmth from fire. But still, I was cold.
But still I will try until I tire.
I will bring the fire back into my, and rely on my heart and soul on my sleeve. I will do good, be good. But for me. I can light the passion in me, if I have to force it, I can do it for free. I did it to them, so unto me, I will for those flame, this fire, this pulse. I will awake from the ashe of that icy cave and look to the sun with a smiling gaze.
