I can’t get over how eagerly Philipa embraces being a true big sister to Penelope as soon as she’s basically given permission to be.

She’s not jealous of the attention their Mama gives Penelope during the engagement era, she looks worried for Pen when the Queen reveals her as Lady Whistledown at their ball and she absolutely releases those butterflies right then to distract everyone and give Penelope some breathing room.

Then there’s the final scene, where she basically says she hopes her daughter turns out just like her little sister? My heart melted.

I think it’s interesting that Pen reading Colin’s journal also kind of explains an aspect of why she asks him to kiss her.

Think about it, she now has proof that he’s experienced with other women, so she must assume one kiss would be nothing to him, in her head she’s thinking he’s probably kissed many women, so what’s one more?

It also makes sense why she doesn’t dwell on it much afterwards, she completely thinks he did her a solid, and is moving on

And LATER when Colin is confessing his feelings and mentions the kiss she is visibly shocked and confused, she really thought it meant nothing to him!!

Polin's first interaction in s3 when Colin says "It was all the rage in Paris" referring to his outfit, he is SO trying to engage Pen in talking about his travels. He's name dropping Paris to catch her interest and hopefully start a conversation. It's unusual for him to have to do this as in s2 Pen even joked about how he didn't need to tell her anything because she already knew everything about his travels due to dutifully reading his letters. Now he knows she has no idea where he's been, and she doesn't even ask, which must eat him up inside!!!
