A man with bandaged skin and tired eyes breaks blocks of wood in the forest. The wind bites at his torn brown coat, he does not aknowlege it.

He is tired. But there's work to be done. Summer is coming, the snow has left again. He can work longer now that the sun is out.

Since he’s nice, I’m sure that you are two, so I thought I could send you a letter.

Thank you for building stuff for our town, and for protecting the woods while you do! I hope that people start to see you aren’t a bad person and then you can come into town more often.

Something very interesting about V!Owen is that he likely was called a vampire before he actually was one. In many European folklore, especially eastern ones, it was believed that vampires were the carriers of disease and death. Many sudden outbreaks were often blamed on vampires. So, it’s likely the town would’ve labeled him as one already because of his illness and those beliefs

It’s something of a self fulfilling prophecy that he was likely ostracized under the assumption he was a vampire, leading him down the path to where he eventually actually became one

her head snaps up when she sees him and she smiles at him (actually smiles. At him. Unless there’s someone behind him?). She quickly glances around to ensure they are alone before looking back at him and motioning him over.

(ofc he notices her wrapping her head scarf more securely around her, so it covers her mouth and nose a little, after motioning him closer)

She pulls out a bundle wrapped in bakers paper. she’s smiling widely as she offers it to him to take

“I’m Elise” she stumbles over her words slightly as she introduces herself. Its clear she doesn’t introduce herself often, her family usually jumps in and introduces her when they meet new people. And she hasn’t met new people in years. “I-Im the bakers niece. I work there”

through the entire exchange she doesn’t stop smiling
