Archimedes appealed to him. History, religion, legend, song - his interests were narrow, and with the primary center of his interest not here at all, he could move to his secondary interests.

The Theatre of Calliope was well-built and interesting. Currently they were reading poetry on stage, which was of less interest to him than the view itself at the moment.

It was unsurprising that there was someone else here, given how expansive the view of the island was from here. Standing toward the top of the theatre, he stood atop the chair, letting the breeze move through his hair.

The sun was staring to set, and the stars were starting to come out. Hands out, he imagined, for a moment, he was falling. Once he opened his eyes again, he looks over the other person at the top of the theatre.

He wondered what she was here for, tilting his head. She was quiet, and so he was quiet, offering her a small wave before he went back to looking at the sky.

            oblivious to most of the sound around herself, yuki had been far too preoccupied.  phone a little high, she's decided now is the perfect setting.  the way the colors kissed the horizon, melting into the slowly growing expanse of night, with the city framed perfectly.  she couldn't pass up on the opportunity to capture the shot and save it to her phone, among flowers and other sights she had come across during her short time here thus far.

           movement, however, pulled her attention elsewhere and she instead found another person staring back at her.  she remains still, waiting  –  wondering if they might try to speak with her.  instead, they wave and she does the same in return ; a single hand raised with a smile.  it is the proper thing to do, after all.  for a moment, she looks down at her phone and to the picture captured  ..  she wasn't quite happy with it, but she supposes it would do.  trying to muster some courage, she looks back to the stranger in hopes of catching their gaze again, her hands raised carefully to sign.

           ❛ if you're not busy, could you help me ? ❜   she holds up her phone, and then points to the city below.   ❛ i'm trying to take pictures.  would you take one of me with my phone before the sun goes down ? ❜   she again signed, only to nervously smile in apology if she was possibly bothering him.

♬ 'Are the cakes in this cafe good? You just had one, right?' Pearl wasn't speaking with her voice but her hands instead. When her spoken question had been met with confusion it had quickly clicked for her. She may have been a musician but she still had fans that were deaf, and so at one point during her career she had decided to learn how to sign so she could communicate with them better. It helped that she was expressive with her hands in the first place!

'Is this translating okay? Not sure how different human sign language is from ours.' Or if the translation system caught it? She assumed it did.

               she had started to come down here on occasion since arriving.  it felt comfortable, and warm.  the cakes and pastries were beautifully made, and tasted just as nice.  when first addressed verbally, her head had only tilted with that familiar worry that bubbled up.  back home, it was rare that people would even realize she was deaf.  yet relief is found once hands are moved, weaving together signs that made up words.  corners of her lips turning upwards, yuki nods once.

Sun waits patiently when she approaches and begins typing on her phone. Hm. When her words are met on the screen, he takes the time to read them and then he shakes his head. Instead of bringing his hands to grab his phone and type back, he's using his hand to sign.

it was a pleasant surprise to encounter someone who could sign. she didn't know what to expect in a new and unfamiliar place, but this at least made her feel a little better. she studies the plush, then looks up to him and signs in return, ( are you sure ? ) she could put it in her room back in her appointed home. it would at least brighten up the space a little more.

( thank you. i like it very much. ) she signs, smiling and then looking to the crane machine. a single nod. they were fun to play, although she didn't win very often. ( i have but i am not very good and never win anything. )

            she's  a  little  confused  as  to  why  she  sees  so  many  people  suddenly  walking  around  with  pie   ..   but  she's  also  now  suddenly  in  the  mood  for  some   –   she  just  doesn't  know  where  exactly  to  go.

He won a giant fluffy bear by playing one of those claw machines. He's looking at him and then hums, "It's so cute and fluffy," he muses to himself. He just won it on a whim, felt like he wanted to play a game, and well, now what? He didn't really have any use with a giant bear!

         how cute  ..  yuki had only been passing through when the lights of the crane machine had caught her sight, and then the person that stood before it, playing.  she had her own share of experience with playing them, but maybe had only won a single time.  she watches with interest as the crane picks up one of the many prizes, expecting it to drop it upon raising up  ..  but it doesn't, and ends up dropping it into the chute.  yet, looking back to the stranger, she realizes they must have caught her watching. 

       for a moment, her head cants and she offers a small smile.  she was still new to the island, and didn't know anyone.   oh, how she missed her friends, family, and her boyfriend.  but it didn't hurt to try and get to know some others.  looking down at the phone in her hand, she finds the notes app to use to communicate.  typing on the screen, she then walks up and holds it out to him so he can read the message upon it : ( you're pretty good at that.  did you win it for someone ? )

                  she  had  collided  into  something  soft   ..   a  body.   far  too  distracted  was  yuki  with  looking  at  some  of  the  sights  that  she  had  failed  to  even  see  the  person  she  walked  directly  into   –   particularly,  she  had  seen  movement  in  her  peripheral.   something  that  didn't  look  quite  right,  but  she  no  longer  was  concerned  with  that.   whatever  the  strange  creature  of  cotes  had  been,  she  would  have  to  just  forget  about.   maybe  it  was  best  that  she  not  know.   swallowing,  she  steps  back  and  waves  at  the  person.   not  in  greeting,  but  in  apology,  a  small  smile  upon  her  face  in  hopes  that  maybe  they  would  understand  it  was  a  mistake.
