He had to meditate for two hours before he was appropriate to talk with anyone at all. It was the longest two hours of his life. and of course being that he suspected Mephisto to be behind this, he can't really ask people for advice here.

Rouxls instantly turns his attention to the lad. "Yikes indeedeth, thou gnat! Thoust should feeleth intimidated by my Nyewest Masterpiece."

Thankfully, he has entirely misinterpreted the reason for this stranger's expression of choice, for he simply assumes it has to do with a certain something he is holding. By no means does it have to do with his appearance. No way Jose.

The Duke steps towards this punkish kid and holds out a puzzle (debatable) consisting of a transparent cube with circular opening cut into the top of it, a small, swirling slide inside, and square shaped opening cut directly underneath the end of the slide.

"And just thinketh! This ist but a glimpst to what minst mindeth is capable of! I'd daresteth thou to attempt it, but alas, NONE with an average Intellecte can solvesth it. Thou'd simpley cryest thineself to sleep for the rest of thoust life."

Rouxls is propped up against a lamppost. His aim: Look as alluring and brilliant as possible to those passing by. If they approach him AND if they seem worthy enough, they will be informed that they are speaking to a minion for hire Most Magnificent.

Unfortunately, no one today has been living up to his ‘expectations’. He’s just about to hang it up when a voice chimes in from behind. The voice of a mere brat.

Rouxls turns around to shoo the speaker away. “Away with thoust, for mine talentsts arteth reserved for the greate and powerful, not a mere rugra--” He halts mid-sentence. It would seem he is mistaken. The owner of the voice is not a brat, but instead a mighty man in a mighty suit of armor. Now THIS looks promising!

“I—ahhhh-I mean, w-why it just so happenseth that thoust has approchedethst the right gentlèmanè. I shalt doeth more than simply direct thou, Sire. Rather, I shalt escorteth thou to thine destionatione personally!” He hasn't the slightest idea where this destination is, mind you. “I taketh it thoust has heardst of mine genius?”

🎔 Céline's eyes narrowed at the gentleman's clarification. "Doesn't that just mean that you're going to try and change the hand it's in based on my answer?" She had lived in the shadows for so long that she could smell a scam when it was being dangled in front of her. You didn't get by living alongside criminals without being conscientious of that kind of thing... because she had fallen for tricks like that when she had been younger.

"Or... no." She went silent and spoke with her eyes for a moment. They flickered from the sides of his body. Left. Right. Left. Right. She replicated it with her body language and pointed in opposing directions from where she looked. He was saying the answer was misdirection. Rather that she had to misdirect him.

"I just have to choose the correct one, right? So... I choose both! You never specified that I just had to pick one, did you?" In the end she simply elected to choose a far more unorthodox approach. If he declined this answer she would just start narrowing down the game's rules until she found a loophole.

She's still not buying it. But he’s not giving up. He cannot give up. He is the Duke of Puzzles, and he needs to make more money than the piddly amount he was given upon being so rudely SNATCHED UP into another world! Wait, did he ever say what happens if she either loses or wins? Oh well.

“NO is correct. It doth not mean that!” Rouxls waggles a finger. “Nevertheless, I applaudeth thou’s attempt to thinketh through this mind wrackingue puzzle.” With a grin plastered to his face, he watches as the young lady’s eyes dart back and forth, back and forth, comparable to a Kit-Cat Clock. Her fingers betray her eyes, however.

Beads of sweat form on his forehead. His mouth goes dry. Not because he’s afraid she might actually deceive him. That’s exactly why. Oh nay, not that at all.

Then she does the unthinkable. She chooses BOTH HANDS.

“Ahh….ha. Ah HA! Correcte again! I didst Not specifyeth that you hadst to pick one. That tis becauseth, O' Prettyst Maiden, that be-eth another parte of moi's trick!” Rouxls is flying by the seat of his Lordly Pants right now. Dear God just be fooled. “Thoust needs to both conceiveth and state EVERY possible way I can be hidingst the coin IN ADDITION to decievingeth me!" He declares this in a manner that suggests that she should be quaking in her pretty shoes by now. GOOD LUCK.

[“And stay away!”] One of two gangsters say as they open the lid of a dumpster and toss Rouxls into it like he is nothing but a long but rather unweightly bag of garbage.

“I assurest thou, thou’re makingeth the BIGGESTE mistake of thine livethesths! Whenst I finally reachest thoust’s Boss and he promotes me as his Righte Hande Gentlemane thou'll see!”

Then WHAM. They slam the lid shut on him, leaving him to bask alone in both stench and shame. Really, truly, they were making a mistake, not allowing him to be their Boss' Greateste Informant. “Well. Shit.” They haven’t seen the last of him, that much is certain. Cursing a few more times, he promptly shoves open the lid and swings a leg over the side of the dumpster. He’s on his way to climb out, foot just about to touch the alley floor, when he freezes.

It would seem he’s not alone in this alleyway. Mortified, he does his dandiest to wash the look of surprise off his face and appear anything but.

“Yes yes yes. Go oneth! Gaze upon minst viseage whilst it lastseths. I shan’t be here long. Suchst loathsome environmenteths art beneathe me, after all.” Rouxls says haughtily and flipping the ends of his hair for emphasis. A banana peel incidentally flies out of it. The corner of his mouth twitches as he tries to maintain composure.

“Thou are a lucky Filth Fly, for certain---Wait. I sayeth, what for art thou selling there?”

Now, typically, this situation would be a nonissue: Foot caught in a rope, dangling upside down from a tree branch. A cruel trap designed by the cruelest of ruffians, no doubt. However, with a grand gesture, a beam of light, and a triumphant ‘oh ho!’ Rouxls would simply remove himself from such a predicament. Alas, these are not typical situations he’s been finding himself in these days. Also, it would seem his ability to teleport has its limitations.

Every time he squirms the rope gets tighter around his ankle.

“Hello…?” The Duke begins, softly, for he is hopeful that someone is nearby and his dignity will be spared. Tragically, he is quite a way away from civilization, having had the brilliant idea to waltz deep into Yela Alora Swamp all by his lonesome for 'very important reasons' “Hello…!” He turns up the volume just a smidge more. Dizziness starts to set in. Blood is pooling into his skull. His poor, beautiful head feels like it’s going to burst.

“Uuuugh. Whhhhy why WHY God DAMNIT!?!” He whines to himself. Then, filling his lungs up with as much air as possible, he goes on to shriek. “SOMEONEST PLEASE HELPETH!?!?”

All swamp critters, both mystical and unspectacular, scatter. “Oh yeahth thank all ofst thoust PESTS for not assisting!"…All swamp critters, save for one, massive, bear-like behemoth that lazily strolls out of a nearby bush to sniff him. Although the beast seems unenthusiastic, that doesn’t stop Rouxls from starting to sob. Hideously.

This, friends and enemies, is where he meets his end. Alone in a swamp about to be either eaten or if nothing else sucked up the nostril of a big, smelly beast.

"Isn't it just a game of chance? It's 50/50 odds, right?" Céline had dealt with her fair share of gamblers and shady performers, but this all seemed a little too simple.

As the young woman stares at Rouxls, thoroughly unimpressed, his hands fidget nervously with the coin behind his back. Still, he maintains the suavest of fronts. Maybe a little too suave given the circumstances, but still. He's desperate, damnit.

"Why of courst this qualifieseth as a puzzle, mine Lady Fairest! Thou'd be-est a fool to thinketh this but a meare game of chance. Rather, tis a game of Wits and Wiles! For you see--"
