Bad news: something went horribly wrong, my civ games went into digital seizures and then died. I've got them back now, but I was unable to salvage any of my saves. So the file I was using for this blog is now dead. I know, I know, I should have backed it up, but I didn't think of that until it was too late.

I'm going to start over, but I can't guarantee that it will happen soon (I'm really busy and I have two other blogs to keep up with), be an American civ, or be on civ 4. I'm sorry, guys.

In 2320 BC, I met Greece as led by Alexander (which is the only leader type for Greece).

"Greetings, Roosevelt! I am Alexander, ruler of the warlike Greek Empire! Let us join together and crush the world's armies beneath our sandals! It'll be way cool!"

I gave him the standard "There shall be peace in our time" reply and moved on. Shortly thereafter, I discovered Bronze Working which led to the discovery of slavery. I began the revolution and brought slavery to the American Empire. Don't worry, I'll get rid of it later.

The Wheel was the next tech I chose to research, which took 10 turns.

In 1960 BC, St. Augustine completed his greatest work: The Most Powerful Civilizations of the World! Bastard didn't even rank me! I've been lacking the resources necessary to build a powerful military :(

After discovering the wheel, I focused my scientists on researching Animal Husbandry for the next 11 turns. I also completed work on Stonehenge in New York in 1360. All in all, a good millennium.

Oh, and in 950 BC, I founded the city of Boston near some Stone and set them to producing a warrior in order to defend the city. And started work on discovering Pottery.

The Dawn of Man

The sun rises on the year 4000 BC. Since time immemorial, the American people have lived a nomadic life. After years of wandering, they are ready to settle down and found your first city.

The Beginning

Alright, I started my game, got about three pages worth of notes, and here goes.

The land type is set to continents, with a temperate climate. Sea levels are at medium, and the world size is huge.

I chose America as my civilization because I rarely take them and I thought I'd give them a shot this time. My leader type is Roosevelt. For those of you unfamiliar with Civ IV, it follows the format of III and V in that each civilization has a pre-set leader, however it is unique in the fact that most civilizations have two leaders to pick from, each with their own benefits to the civ. As I said, I chose Roosevelt. He is Industrious and Organized.

The Introduction

I have been horribly obsessed with the Civilization series ever since I was a kid and my oldest brother gave me a copy of Civ II. That was over a decade ago and it seems as though my love isn't going anywhere. And so it is that I've decided to share my love with the internet. I have decided to start a new game in Civ IV (cause fuck V...seriously), take it as far as I can, and chronicle it here.

I already have about three pages of notes on my game so far and I'm going to go ahead and put some of that into a separate post. Anyway, welcome to my obsession. I hope it's not the frightening kind.
