Would either of them really be ready? This was a situation that, if treated undelicately, could make or break their relationship. Aoko was honestly terrified the minute he’d stopped replying via IM, nervously pacing nearby the front door. Until she heard her name called, of course.
❝ A-Ah, yes! Will do! Be right there! ❞
Her hands shake a little as she opens the door, smiling softly at Kaito and moving out of the way to let him in. It’d be better to talk about this inside rather than outside…
❝ Are you feeling any better? ❞
“Not really.”
He walks in nonetheless, but stops awkwardly only a few steps into the house. Up until Aoko had opened the door, there was a small, insane part of him telling him that he could have played it off as another prank, or pretended that everything was a lie.
Seeing Aoko, though, had sent all of those thoughts out of the metaphorical window. He couldn’t lie to her again, not when she cared. Instead, he just stands there, somewhat hesitant to do anything that Aoko doesn’t offer for him, lest he do something that would overstay his welcome.
“I’ll live, though.”
