When John comes home from making everyone else's lives miserable, he always likes to see his favourite ghoul and hear about what he'd been up to in his absence. This time, he found Moonlight sitting on the little balcony, petting a stray cat that had wandered over at the smell of his dinner.

John watched for a while, just standing there in the doorway observing. It was nice, seeing Moony calm and happy, and he didn't want to interrupt and risk scaring away Moony's only friend that wasn't John himself.

Whenever Moony would be speaking with John, he used English and refrained from his ghoulish tendencies. Occasionally, he'd pur, but that was as far as he'd stray from human communication.

Tonight, however, his was clicking and chuffing and making such animalistic noises that the cat seemed to understand. His claws were gentle as they tickled the cat's chin, kicking up a pur of his own as the cat practically vibrated

John kept his presence hidden for a little while longer, loving the sight of Moony more comfortable in the more ghoulish side of himself.

Eventually, though, the cat noticed he was there and meowed loudly at him. "Snitch." He pointed at the cat as he spoke, only for the kitty to rub it's face against his finger.

Moonlight damn near jumped out of his fur when John came into view. "Sorry, I thought you were coming home later. I'd have made you tea," he apologized, tucking his hands into his lap to give room for John to pet the kitty. "How was your day?"

"It's fine, I can make us both cups in a bit." John pet the cat briefly, then moved to kiss Moony's cheek. "Not too bad. Bit borin, all things considered. How's you and your new friend been?"
