if you do? that’s fine, but nothing is more infuriating then watching some idiots who havent experienced it compare your own trauma, your own csa, your own very real run ins with pedophilia/incest, to fiction. do you even realize how humiliating that is? the potential effects it could have? your moral crusade is not helping except destigmatizing actual abuse, and equating it to something that is, again, fictional. i did not survive fiction.

again, the effects. what do you hope to accomplish by equating fictional ships to real life abuse? say this was done on a large enough scale. it would be a cry-wolf situation, no one would take actual survivors seriously. are you hoping to arrest people for shipping fictional characters? but not real, genuine pedophiles? you do realize that a good portion of people that ship those so-called “problematic” ships are abuse survivors, right?

people also tend to be under the assumption that survivors indulge in these parts of fandoms to cope, while also shaming and harrassing them for it. first of all, fuck you for shunning someone that’s already ashamed of what’s happened to them (and neither is it in yours or even my own place to judge), but i digress. they assume survivors willingly subject themselves to these scenarios and ideas to feel better, which isn’t true for all. some disregard the problematic aspects of these ships entirely, because they can separate fiction from reality

let’s take my own fandom specific example, brugio. if you are unfamiliar with the reason why this is problematic, it’s because it’s a minor and adult pairing. why do i ship this?

i personally don't have trauma from any of this but i've always, ALWAYS tried to advocate for ships with an age difference or are incestuous cause i mean,, they're literally just cartoon characters. it affects absolutely no one. I have a friend who's been downright harassed and told to kill herself over JonaDio, which is a LOT worse than shipping jonadio. and that's a much tamer ship than idunno, josuke/jotaro or dio/giorno since they literally aren't related, only siblings by law.

I've never really had anything to back this up other than my moral compass, so thanks for writing this op! I'll probably actually use this in the future to support my argument, if you're okay with that.
